MLB Teams Picking Up The Pace For One Last Effort To Make Post Season

With just over two months left in the MLB betting regular season, the playoff  picture for the 2011 World Series playoffs still has a lot left to be resolved. The only for sure thing in the sports betting MLB playoff picture, is that the Philadelphia Phillies will be winning the NL East division, as they own a six and half game lead over the second place Atlanta Braves. Barring a New York Mets like 12 game collapse a few seasons ago, the Phillies are a lock to make the playoffs. However, the rest of the NL and AL are each wide open.

As the 2011 UFC betting baseball season progresses, several middle of the pack teams, are upping the tempo of play for one last surge to qualify for the playoffs. Here is a look at a few teams hoping to show their MLB fans that they care about winning.

Tampa Bay Rays – Despite being in third in the ever daunting American League East division, the Tampa Bay Rays have been one of the MLB’s hottest teams of late. In the Rays past 12 games, they are an impressive 10 and two.  The Rays are eight and a half games back, entering tonight’s series with Detroit, before moving on to the Toronto Blue Jays.

Although they play in a tough division, Tampa Bay has had the fortune of playing several teams out of contention this month, in Toronto, Oakland, and Seattle. This past weekend, the Rays swept Seattle, and if they can get by the Tigers these next four days, they should be able to close to within four and a half games of the division lead, as New York and Boston face tough opponents this week.

Atlanta Braves – Sitting six and a half games back of the Philadelphia Phillies, the Atlanta Braves have been on an impressive run themselves as of late. Atlanta has the wild card playoff berth locked down, but a division win out of nowhere would be a huge confidence booster. The Braves are seven and three in their last 10 games, including winning their last five games.

Last week, the Braves were able to silence their critics, when they decimated the NL West’s Arizona Diamondbacks and San Francisco Giants. During those two series, Atlanta came to play, as they went an impressive six and one in the seven games.

Milwaukee Brewers – At the beginning of the year, we picked the Brewers to win the World Series this year. Led by pitchers Zack Greinke and Shaun Marcum, as well as position players Rickie Weeks and Prince Fielder, the Brewers have gone on a massive tear since the end of July. To put into perspective how good the Brewers are, consider that since July 26th, they have only lost a total of three games!

The Brewers have a lock on the NL Central crown, and after a couple of seasons of missing the playoffs, have all but eliminated the middle of the pack moniker associated with their reputation. In the Brewers last 10; they have gone eight and two, while also owning a nine game lead over second place St. Louis.
