San Diego broke a three game losing streak when it beat Tennessee last week. It was only their third win, and I’ll say it again, this team is better than it plays. Phillip Rivers provides the best air attack in the division, and most of the NFL to boot.
The defense ranks first in protecting against the pass, and second in limiting the rush. Maybe it’s a mental thing, and head coach Norv Turner did have a recent blowout to get into the teams head. We will see how long it lasts.
Tight end Antonio Gates has scored nine times, but I think it’s safe to say the team was expecting more out of RB Ryan Mathews who has been solid but only has just two touchdowns.
Houston does a few things well ranking sixth in rushing on the strength of RB Arian Fosters who he has seven touchdowns and 737 yards. The team did lose to the Colts last week 30-17, but it wasn’t a huge surprise considering the Texans rank dead last in opponent passing yards.
They should have the same issues in San Diego against the mighty Rivers. Their record stands at 4-3, and there are a few more wins in their schedule, but not this week.
The odds makers have the San Diego Chargers as a -3 point favorite with an over/under of 50.
