Online Sports Betting Odds: Hurricanes – 14.5
The Hurricanes finished the 2009-10 football betting season ranked 19th in the country, and after an offseason over which Miami improved, the school has moved all the way up to 13th heading in to 2010-11. The Hurricanes have a tough schedule that includes visits to both Ohio State and Pittsburgh over the following two weeks, so it will be crucial to gain some momentum against a division-II school that is not expected to even be able to keep this one close.
NCAA Football Betting Preview: Florida A&M
The Rattlers went 8-3 overall a year ago in the Mid-Eastern Athletic conference, and with many of their key starters returning to the team this season, there is no reason to think that they can’ be just as good in 2010-11. Florida A&M can score in bunches at times, and their passing game is just as potent as the running game, with Kevin Elliott and Isaac West gaining recognition as potential late NFL betting draft picks. Although they have done well in the MEAC, that success doesn’t necessarily translate to games outside of the conference, as illustrated by Florida A&M’s 48-16 loss to this same Hurricanes team a year ago at Sun Life Stadium.
NCAA Football Betting Preview: Miami
Head coach Randy Shannon has pointed the Hurricanes in the right direction over the past couple of seasons, and in his third year with the club Miami is finally ready to contend for an ACC title. The key for the Hurricanes will be consistency, as too many times last season they would suffer hiccups in big games that cost them big time in the standings. Quarterback Jacory Harris returns as the undisputed leader of the offense, and his big-play ability will be the focus of opposing defenses all year. A tough early schedule which features consecutive road games to top-25 teams will likely set the tone for the Hurricanes’ season, which makes it that much more important to get a fast start with a quality outing against a weak opponent.
The Match Up: Florida A&M vs Miami
The Hurricanes dominated when these teams met a year ago, scoring 31 straight points to run away with a 32-point win after the Rattlers kept it close early on. How close Florida A&M will be able to keep it this time around, and for how long, will be a key question heading in to the season opener.
