2009-2010 Boston Celtics Season Preview
The Boston Celtics need Kevin Garnett to be healthy for the duration of the season. If KG is right, he’ll combine with Rasheed Wallace and Paul Pierce to form the best frontline in the league. The Celtics are prime contenders to get back to the Finals if Rajon Rondo continues his development and Ray Allen has another year in the tank.

2009-2010 Philadelphia 76ers Season Preview
The Philadelphia 76ers are in the same boat as Boston in that they need their premier big man to stay on the floor. That’s where the comparisons stop. A healthy Elton Brand will help matters, but the 76ers are going to miss Andre Miller in the backcourt. It’s not a good sign for Eddie Jordan that Royal Ivey is the only true point guard on the roster.

2009-2010 New Jersey Nets Season Preview
The New Jersey Nets are trying to imitate Orlando, except they forgot one thing: the Magic’s elite players. The Nets brought in Courtney Lee, Rafer Alston, and Tony Battie from Orlando, while Vince Carter was sent the other way. Looks like New Jersey is gearing up
to make some signings during next summer’s free-agent signing period.

2009-2010 Toronto Raptors Season Preview
The Toronto Raptors are known in the Great White North as the Euro Raptors, and for good reason. Hedo Turkoglu was added in the off-season to a roster that already includes a slew of international players, and it had better payoff for general manager Bryan Colangelo. If it doesn’t, Chris Bosh could find himself on another team by this time next year.

2009-2010 New York Knicks Season Preview
The New York Knicks should be worse than last year. That’s not exactly good news for Knicks backers, but the reality is the team’s best player is Al Harrington. Like New Jersey, it’s pretty obvious New York is preparing itself to make a big free-agent splash in the summer of 2010, when LeBron James and Dwyane Wade become available.

2009-2010 Cleveland Cavaliers Season Preview
The Cleveland Cavaliers think Shaquille O’Neal is the man to push the team over the top, but it remains to be seen if he’s the answer. Shaq is still capable in spurts, but he’s a far cry from the player he was at the start of the decade. If Mike Brown finds a way to incorporate O’Neal into the offense without disrupting LeBron James’ rhythm, the Cavaliers are bound for the Finals.

2009-2010 Chicago Bulls Season Preview
The Chicago Bulls lost Ben Gordon to Detroit in the off-season, so they don’t have the gunner that went lights out in their seven-game series with Boston in the first round of the playoffs. Luol Deng is the key to the season. If he’s the player he was three years ago, the Bulls should get back to the postseason behind point guard Derrick Rose.

2009-2010 Detroit Pistons Season Preview
The Detroit Pistons appear to have no idea what they want to do as a franchise. Last season, the Pistons dealt Chauncey Billups for Allen Iverson. NOW, Iverson is gone, as are Rasheed Wallace and Antonio McDyess. If that wasn’t enough to confuse bettors everywhere, Joe Dumars brought back Ben Wallace in the off-season.

2009-2010 Indiana Pacers Season Preview
The Indiana Pacers have a very Hoosiers like team outside of All-Star Danny Granger. Picture this crew during pre-game warmups: Troy Murphy,
Jeff Foster, Mike Dunleavy Jr., Travis Diener, Tyler Hansbrough, and Josh McRoberts. There are some nice pieces in there, but nothing that’s going to help Granger get the Pacers over the hump in the East.

2009 Milwaukee Bucks Season Preview
The Milwaukee Bucks need Michael Redd to bounce back from injury, but the real trouble for the Bucks is in the paint. Andrew Bogut is solid if unspectacular, but he’s all Milwaukee has inside. Barring any major reversal in fortune, the Bucks are likely to disappoint bettors once again despite their above average talent level.

2009-2010 Orlando Magic Season Preview
The Orlando Magic essentially swapped Vince Carter for Hedo Turkoglu, but it’s unclear why. Turkoglu was the heart and soul of the team, not to mention the Magic’s go-to player down the stretch. Carter isn’t exactly the best when the chips are down, and Dwight Howard doesn’t have enough of an offensive arsenal to get Orlando past Cleveland and Boston again.

2009-2010 Atlanta Hawks Season Preview
The Atlanta Hawks made some key decisions in the off-season, notably the acquisition of Jamal Crawford and the re-signing of Josh Smith. The knock on the Hawks last season was they didn’t have enough depth, and Crawford helps address that. Bringing back Smith is also paramount to any improvement, because Atlanta couldn’t afford to lose anyone from the rotation.

2009-2010 Miami Heat Season Preview
The Miami Heat had cracks at getting both Lamar adorn and Carlos Boozer in the off-season, but they’ll have to settle for essentially the same roster they had at the e.nd of last year. It’s easy to see
why the Heat tried to shore up their frontline. Big men Jermaine O’Neal and Jamaal Magloire might have one good knee between them heading into training camp.

2009-2010 Charlotte Bobcats Season Preview
The Charlotte Bobcats exchanged Tyson Chandler for Emeka Okafor in the summer, but they still don’t have the horses to be seriously noticed in the East. With Chandler patrolling the paint, expect Larry Brown to go small with Boris Diaw and Gerard Wallace at forward. At the very least, the Bobcats should be an exciting team on which to lay money in the corning season.

2009-2010 Washington Wizards Season Preview
The Washington Wizards were the second worst team behind Sacramento last season, but things are about to change in the nation’s capital. Gilbert Arenas has completely recovered from last season’s leg injury, while Mike Miller is a welcome addition to a starting lineup that already features former All-Stars Antawn Jamison and Caron Butler.
