The 2010 Major League Baseball’s regular season is coming to close and with only one week left to play, a few teams have already punched their ticket to the postseason while a few others are still trying to nail down a spot.
Each of the National League’s 16 teams started the season dreaming of winning this year’s World Series, but in a few days only four will actually have a chance to turn that dream into reality. Here is a look at my top teams in the NL along with their updated odds to win the Pennant as well as the World Series.

Philadelphia Phillies Odds to Win the NL Pennant 2/1 World Series 15/4
Heading into the final week of the regular season, Philadelphia is one win from clinching its fourth straight NL East title. The Phillies have been unstoppable in the month of September, winning 19 out of 24 games to run their NL best record to 93-63. Pitching remains solid as they have a team ERA of 3.72 which is fifth best in the NL. Their .259 team batting average is also fifth best in the league and they are ranked third in runs scored with 731.
San Francisco Giants Odds to Win the NL Pennant 5/2 World Series 6/1
San Francisco is still battling it out with San Diego and Colorado in the NL West. The Giants are 88-68 overall and have a ½ game lead over the Padres and a 4 ½ game lead over the Rockies. The division title will most likely be decided this weekend when San Francisco hosts San Diego for a three game series starting on Friday. The Giants pitching remains superb as they lead the NL with a 3.41 team ERA. They are ranked eighth in hitting with a .257 team batting average and ninth in runs scored with 677.
Cincinnati Reds Odds to Win the NL Pennant 5/1 World Series 11/1
Cincinnati is also just one win away from clinching its division as it has a 6 ½ game lead over St. Louis in the NL Central. The Reds have struggled as of late, dropping six of their last 10 games and three of their last four. Their pitching continues to be very average as they are ranked eighth is the NL with a team ERA of 4.08. Their bats continue to carry the load as they lead the league with a .271 team batting average and 765 runs scored.
Atlanta Braves Odds to Win the NL Pennant 3/1 World Series 7/1
Atlanta is tied for the third most wins in the NL but its postseason future is still very much up in the air. The Braves are 87-69 and one game in back of San Diego in the Wildcard chase. They have had their problems in the month of September as they are just 10-14 including a three game sweep at the hands of the Phillies last week and dropping two out of three to the Nationals over the weekend. The Braves’ pitching is ranked third in the NL with a 3.58 team ERA. They are ranked seventh in hitting with a team batting average of .258 and fifth in runs scored with 715.
