Top 3 NFL ‘Over/Under’ Plays – Week 9
For the first time in seven weeks the ‘under’ bet had the advantage with eight games scoring less points than the total line and only five scoring more. The total average number of points scored in each game came in at 41.7 which was well below last week’s total of 52.6; the highest of the season. The lowest was in Week 1 at 36.6. Tampa Bay and Arizona combined for the most points with 73 in the Bucs 38-35 win over the Cardinals. The least amount of points scored was 9 in Green Bay’s 9-0 shutout of the N.Y. Jets.

Here is a look at my top three plays on the Over/Under line for Week 9 in the NFL. All total lines quoted are courtesy of BetUS.com.
New Orleans @ Carolina Over/Under: 41
New Orleans’ offense continues to struggle putting points on the board as it is averaging just 20.9 points per game and has only scored more than 30 points once in its first eight games. The Saints only managed to score 16 points in their Week 4 win over the Panthers.
Carolina is ranked dead last in the league in scoring; averaging just 12.1 points per game. Head Coach John Fox says he is sticking with QB Matt Moore as his starter despite the fact he has thrown twice as many interceptions (10) than touchdowns (5).
The total has stayed ‘under’ in seven of the Saints last eight games against the NFC South. The total has stayed ‘under’ in six of the last seven games between these two teams and in the last seven games they have played in Carolina. The Pick: UNDER
Miami @ Baltimore Over/Under: 40 ½
Miami’s offense continues to improve in terms of total yards gained but it is still ranked 23rd in scoring; averaging just 19 points per game. The Dolphins defense is ranked eighth overall and giving up an average of 21.3 points per game.
Baltimore’s offense is ranked 15th in scoring; averaging 21.3 points per game. The Ravens defense is ranked 10th overall and seventh in the league in points allowed; giving up an average of just 18.4 points per game.
The total has stayed ‘under’ in 10 of the Dolphins last 12 games as a road underdog and in their last four road games overall. The total has stayed ‘under’ in eight of the Ravens last 12 games following a SU win. The Pick: UNDER
Indianapolis @ Philadelphia Over/Under: 46 ½
Indianapolis’s offense continues to play at a high level even with the loss of TE Dallas Clark and WR Austin Collie. Last Monday night, in the Colt’s 30-17 victory over Houston, QB Peyton Manning completed six passes to TE Jacob Tamme and seven passes to WR Pierre Garcon.
Philadelphia’s offense will get a huge boost this Sunday with the return of QB Michael Vick, who missed the last three games with a rib injury and WR DeSean Jackson, who sat out the Eagles last game with a concussion.
The total has gone ‘over’ in six of the Colts last seven road games. The total has gone ‘over’ in nine of the Eagles last 11 games following a SU loss and in 10 of their last 15 home games. The Pick: OVER
Last week’s record: 2-1 YTD: 13-11
