If you want to bet on the over/under in Super Bowl XLV, here’s a few free tips to increase your chances of cashing in on that one big wager you’ve been saving up for all years.
The current Over/Under is 44.5 at BetUs.com where you can get 145% Bonus for Super Bowl XLV.
Depending on what sportsbook you follow, the over/under spread for Super Bowl XLV has varied a little since the numbers were first posted late last week. This year’s Super Bowl odds are the closest than it has been in 27 years.
Online betting giant BetUs.com currently has the Steelers-Packers point spread at Green Bay -2 ½ points, down from the -3 it was just a few days ago. Meanwhile, the odds-makers opened the Steelers-Packers total at 46 points, but they have since adjusted it to 44.5 with the Packers total at 23.5 and the Steelers at 21.
I think that spread is reasonable considering that Super Bowl 45 should be a hard fought defensive battle most likely ending with a game-winning field goal being the deciding factor.
However, here we’re only going to take a look at the over/under.
While both team’s offenses garnered a lot of attention during the year, the Packers and the Steelers posses two of the best defenses’ in the entire NFL. Pittsburgh’s defense, coined by linebacker James Harrison, “Hits-burgh”, was the stingiest of the two, surrendering just 14.5 points per game, while Green Bay’s house of pain was nearly as good, yielding just 15 points per game; good enough for second best in the NFL.
Add up the two teams’ points allowed and you come up with an average of just 29.5 points per game this season—15 points fewer than the current Super Bowl 45 odds total. If that’s not enough proof, both sides combined to cover the under in nearly 57 percent of their regular season games this past year.
Offensively both teams ranked amongst the best in the league in scoring for the regular season, with the Packers ranking 10th (24.3), and the Steelers putting up 23.4 points per game to rank12th. And, though, everyone is expecting this game to be decided on the defensive side of the football, I believe we might see more offense than people are anticipating. But who might this effect Super Bowl 45s over/under spread?
The Packers boast the better offense, there’s no question about it; with offensive juggernauts like Pro Bowl quarterback Aaron Rodgers, the late blooming James Starks at running back, and lofty wide receiver Greg Jennings. Meanwhile, the Steelers are a team that has flown under the radar offensively for most of the season, but do have a couple of their own offensive studs in two-time Super Bowl champion quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, receiver Hines Ward, and running back Rashard Mendenhall.
This game will be filled with both teams trying to score points through the air. The Steelers are the much better team on the ground with Mendenhall, but the difference will be in the passing game as Rodgers is amongst the best playcallers in the league.
The energy is already building around Super Bowl XLV and you’ll want to get your wager in early before the over/under is adjusted any more.
Why?
Because Super Bowl Sunday draws more first-time bettors than any other sporting event, and because of this, the over/under is likely to change, continuing its downward trend. Vegas doesn’t like giving money away.
By now, you might be asking why this is important? Well for starters, the under has covered in five of the last six Super Bowls, so getting your wager in now will lock you in at the current O/U of 44 ½ , as I expect this year’s over/under Super Bowl 45 odds to close at 42 or 42 ½ .
Initially, my thought was to go with the over 44 in Super Bowl XLV as I got the feeling that the Packers might light up the scoreboard and the Steelers would score at least 21 points. Then after more consideration, the defense will have a huge impact, don’t get me wrong, I believe the offense of both teams is being underestimated, but I am thinking the under 44.5 is the best bet.
Whatever you chose, just remember to have fun.
So go grab your nachos and an ice-cold beverage, and get ready to watch a great game as the Packers and Steelers put on a show in Super Bowl XLV.
