Boston Tries To Get On Winning Track For Playoffs

The Celtics have overcome a tremendous amount of adversity to secure a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. While the Celtics are not in danger of being knocked out of the playoffs, they are definitely struggling to find a reason to get excited about their chances as they keep dropping games. The lead-up to the playoffs is extremely important and the Boston Celtics are not showing the playoff drive of a winning team as the regular season comes to a close.

Only a game and a half separates the Magic from the Eastern Conference basement, which is exactly what fans expected to happen. The Magic are in good hands with a quality general manager and a new head coach. The thing that the franchise has to do now is focus on the future and trying to build a championship team.

The Celtics are 4-6 in their last 10 games, which is not the kind of pace a team wants to have heading into the playoffs. Some sports book experts say that the injury to Rajon Rondo is finally catching up to the Celtics, while others insist that age is the problem in Boston. The Celtics are a much different team than a year ago, especially after Ray Allen left to play for the Miami Heat. This time around, there is no superb bench to rescue the tired starters, which was a big difference for Boston last year. This season will end much differently for the Celtics than last year did.

Orlando Magic

If you are betting on sports, then you are probably not going to be picking the Orlando Magic to be challenging for any playoff spot for a while. By the time the book is closed on this regular season, the Magic would have finished over 40 games out of first place in the Eastern Conference. Granted, it is not easy to make headway in a conference that contains the Miami Heat. But when this season is over, the fans in Orlando can expect a lot of changes and hopefully some of those changes come with a big name player.

The Bottom Line

The Celtics desperately need a win to get something going before the playoffs, but that kind of desperation does not always bode well for the actual playoff performance. The Orlando Magic has little, if anything, to offer in resistance. This game should be an easy win for Boston, but it does not mean that it will be a win of any significance.
