English Premier League Soccer Week 13 Preview

English Premier League action will begin again this weekend after a week off for World Cup qualifier matches. My pick for match of the week is Manchester City at Liverpool. A win at Anfield could move Liverpool into fourth on the table, a position that would put them back in the hunt for the championship. Here I take a look at this weeks match ups giving you insight on making your EPL soccer wager a winner.

#1 Chelsea continue to roll, hosting  #19 Woverhampton at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, and will most likely extend there five point division lead. The Wolves suffered a huge defeat to Arsenal in their last game that dropped then to second from last on the league table. Chelsea is coming off a huge win against Manchester United before the break and is in excellent form. The Wolves could defiantly end up with another loss. Chelsea should win this game easily.

#3 Manchester United is coming off a loss to Chelsea and has dropped five points into third on the league table behind Arsenal. They will be facing another difficult match on Saturday when they host #12 Everton at Old Trafford. Everton have been plagued with injuries, which has made winning games difficult. They are coming off a 2-1 victory over West Ham in their last match but they are no Man U.  Look for Manchester United to get a much needed win.

#2 Arsenal will travel to # 8 Sunderland this weekend in what appears to be the most difficult game of the top three seeds. Sunderland has played well lately and is especially good on their home pitch, where they have defeated Liverpool and posted a draw with Aston Villa. The Gunners are also playing well at the moment and have had two big wins in their last two league games. This will be a hard fought match but Arsenal will come away with three points.

#4 Tottenham Hotspur moved back into the top four with a 2-0 victory over Sunderland in their last league match and seem to be back to form. They will travel to White Hart Lane to play #14 Wigan Athletic on Sunday. Wigan are currently sitting mid table in the league and have played fairly well this season, but I cannot see them beating Tottenham. Look for the Hotspur to post back-to-back wins and walk away with the points.

#5 Aston Villa travel to play Burnley on Saturday in what might prove to be a difficult win. #10 Burnley are playing well especially on their home pitch. The Villians however, have picked up nine points in their last five matches and are coming off a 5-1 win over Bolton before the break. I see Aston Villa walking away with three points.

#6 Manchester City will travel to Anfield to take on # 7 Liverpool in what is my pick for the best match of the week. Both teams have struggled to win matches this season and will be looking to get back to good form. Man City have only lost one game in the league this season, but are drawing too many games — which has prevented them from being higher up on the league table. Liverpool has lost five league games this season and has posted draws for matches that should have been easily won. The two teams are evenly matched and this should end in a 2-2 draw.

#20 Portsmouth sits at the bottom of the table and will make their way to #9 Stoke City on Sunday. Portsmouth has shown some improvement in their last three matches but was defeated 3-1 in their previous game against Blackburn. Stoke City have been playing well and are sitting comfortably at mid table. Stoke to win a close game at home to get the points.

#17 Hull City will host  #18 West Ham on Saturday, as both clubs are desperately seeking a win. Hull City has only one win in their last four, but recently moved out of the bottom three with a victory in their last game against Stoke. Meanwhile, West Ham has just a single win in their last six, and is coming off a 2-1 loss to Everton. This could end in a draw, as both teams would be happy with just a single point.

#14 Blackburn Rovers travel to Reebok Stadium on Sunday to play the # 16 Bolton Wanderers.  Bolton has suffered three big losses in their last three matches and will be looking to get a big win this weekend. Blackburn posted three points in their last match beating Portsmouth 3-1, and will be looking win two straight. The clubs are evenly matched and I feel this game will end with a draw.

#15 Birmingham City have picked up five points in their last three matches and will host #11 Fulham this weekend. Fulham has played fairly consistent and are sitting at mid table, picking up 9 points in their last six. Birmingham will have home field advantage and that could prove to be the deciding factory in this one. Take the Blues in this one as they walk away with three points.

The week concludes with two mid-week matches on Wednesday with Hull City hosting Everton and Blackburn at Fulham. Look for Everton and Fulham to pick up three points respectively.
