The on line sports betting experts know that this NHL offseason will probably be the shortest in the history of the league, so that means that speculation about next season will have to start now. There are several teams who have made an impact on the league this year and then there are those teams that came on strong but then faded away. Let’s take a look at the teams that the sports betting services will have their eyes on for next season.
Winnipeg Jets
Despite the rather lackluster finish to this shortened season, the Jets continue to improve each and every year. The betting online sportsexperts suspect that the Jets are only a couple of players away from being a dangerous playoff team and those players would be on the offensive side of the puck. This team is already stacked on defense and in goal. Now it needs some fire power to help out Evander Kane.
New York Islanders
The 2013-14 season will be the last one for the Islanders in Nassau Coliseum. Starting with the 2014-15 campaign, the Isles will move to Brooklyn. There is still now word on whether or not the team will change its name to reflect the fact that it no longer plays on Long Island. As for the talent on the ice, the Isles seem pretty solid everywhere except on defense. Look for New York to make some upgrades on the blue line and bring in a goalie to take over when Evgeni Nabokov leaves the team. All of the sports betting websites know that Rick DiPietro is definitely not the answer in net for the Islanders.
Columbus Blue Jackets
After the trade deadline, the Blue Jackets kind of took everyone by surprise. The team even managed to work its way into a playoff berth in the Western Conference. But no one is really sure how the Jackets are doing it. The team has been getting good goaltending from Sergei Bobrovsky, but the rest of the team seems to be a huge mystery. Once Columbus is able to break down what it really has, it can make the changes it needs to make to come out as a winning team next season.
Edmonton Oilers
At some point, the Edmonton Oilers are just going to start winning hockey games and they won’t stop. There are enough top draft picks on this team to make it into a winner and it looks like it is finally headed in that direction. There will probably be some offseason moves to bring in more experience at the blue line and maybe even shore up the goaltending position. But this is a team that is loaded with young talent that is eventually going to start scaring a lot of teams in the NHL. This may not be the Cup winner Edmonton fans have been hoping for, but this will be an exciting team to watch.
