2009 Colorado Avalanche Season Preview
The Colorado Avalanche’s more than a decade long run of excellence is over, as all good things must come to an end. Joe Sakic’s retirement leaves a huge void for the Avalanche on the ice and his leadership will be missed as well. As captain Adam Foote will more than fulfill the role. Emerging star Paul Stastny and Matt Duchene offer Colorado the hope of the the future at center ice. It will be a reality check for the Colorado fans as they experience many ups and downs, as this team transitions back into a winner.

2009 Edmonton Oilers Season Preview
The Edmonton Oilers ’08 season began with high hopes, but the expectations may have been unrealistic given the teams youth and inexperience. The Oilers had injuries to many of their core players, as they ended with the disappointment missing the post season for a 3rd consecutive year. Coach Pat Quinn’s experience and demeanor will help the team as they play to their strengths and improve on their weaknesses. With the addition of Nikolai Khabibulin, he will be able to covering up team mistakes and keep Edmonton in close games. Edmonton has a nice blend of power and kill and will be competing for a spot in the playoffs this season.

2009 Minnesota Wild Season Preview
GM Chuck Fletcher has helped in transforming teams in Florida, Anaheim and Pittsburgh, with the Ducks and Penguins going to championships, and expects to do the same in Minnesota. The Wild have Niklas Backstrom, a premier goalie and a complete two-way center in Mikko Koivu, and with the addition of Martin Havlat, they replace the offense of Marian Gaborik. The Minnesota defense is solid and a healthy Brent Burns will ensure it remains so. The major factor for the Wild making the post season is if their young stars contribute and gain experience, not not just participate.

2009 Vancouver Canucks Season Preview
The Vancouver Canucks will have a good season in ’09-’10. Roberto Luongo poses challenges for opponents and ensures that Vancouver has a chance to win every night. Having that type of player in the goaltending position is a significant advantage for the Canucks. Daniel and Henrik Sedin are two of the very best players in the league. They both are skillful and talented in all aspects of the game. Ryan Kesler is the heart and soul player for the Canucks, and look for a breakout season from Alexander Edler.
