Washington Redskins 2010 Odds, Preview, and Predictions
Washington Redskins Current odds to win: Division: +500 Conference: 13-1 Super Bowl: 25-1
Washington finished last in the NFC East last year with a 4-12 record. They were 3-5 at home and 1-7 on the road. They went 0-6 in the division and 2-10 in the conference.
They failed to qualify for the postseason.
Washington Redskins Outlook for 2010
Philadelphia’s loss is Washington’s gain and with the addition of Donovan McNabb, for the first time in awhile they have a true franchise type quarterback behind center. The Redskins are counting on him still having enough left in the tank to turn this team around and by all indications that is exactly what McNabb expects from himself.
One thing the Redskins will not have a shortage of next season is veteran running backs. Clinton Portis will be back after missing several games due to injury last season. As an insurance policy, new head coach Mike Shanahan went out and signed Willie Parker and Larry Anderson. They are still talking about adding another former Eagle; Brian Westbrook to the mix as a third down specialist. Another plus for Washington his having a healthy Chris Cooley back in the lineup. The seven year TE missed nine games last season due to injury. Along with Santana Moss and Antwaan Randle El, McNabb will have a nice compliment of talent surrounding him to point some points on the board.
Defense could be the potential Achilles Heel of this team with DT Albert Haynesworth’s displeasure at the switch to a 3-4 scheme. How much a disruptive force he can be remains to be seen but he still remains a vital part of this defense. Through the draft and free agency they have added some depth to the a unit that finished last season ranked 10th overall.
The Redskins are still missing a few key pieces in order to make a serious run at the division title but they will be much better than their four win total in 2009. If McNabb can stay healthy and the defense does not become unglued, they could certainly make things interesting in 2010.
2010 Washington Redskins Prediction: 8-8, 3rd place in the NFC East.
