The Tennessee Titans took a major hit in last week’s win. Kenny Britt and his 289 yards receiving and 3 touchdowns were lost for the season due to a knee injury. He was far and away the biggest reason that Matt Hasselbeck has averaged 310 yards passing through three games this season. That leaves Nate Washington and Jared Cook to become the playmakers in this offense.
That’s where the Titans last ranked rush offense (51.7 yards per game) has to come in. Chris Johnson has been absolutely invisible this season averaging 2.1 yards per carry. His longest run this season is nine yards for god sakes! This week Johnson has to redeem himself and he gets to against a Browns rush defense that is has been very generous this season.
The Cleveland Browns are the least sexy 2-1 team in the last decade of football. There is absolutely nothing flashy about this team! Yet they are 2-1 after a bad loss against Cincinnati and then consecutive wins against Indianapolis and Miami.
Colt McCoy is coming off a decent game by his standard – 210 yards, two touchdowns and an interception last week. He will get his biggest weapon back this week – Peyton Hillis sat out last week with illness. Other than McCoy and Hillis, the Browns have names like Mohammad Massoquoi and Ben Watson to throw to and nobody else. Not all that inspiring but somehow effective nonetheless!
The biggest difference in this game is going to be the defense. While the Browns have been getting kicked around a little bit, the Titans have been the top unit in the NFL allowing 261 yards per game to their opposition while giving up an average of 14.3 points per game. Advantage – Tennessee in a big way.
The odds makers have the Cleveland Browns as a -1 point favorite with an over/under of 39.
Betting Outlook: The Cleveland Browns have surprisingly won three of the last four games between the two teams but Sunday should be different. The Browns are going to have to score points – Tennessee appears as if they will! With a true lack of playmakers on the Cleveland side, I just don’t see it happening. Nate Washington will be just fine in relief of Kenny Britt and Chris Johnson will finally show up in a game this season. Tennessee already beat Baltimore this season – that’s enough for me!
Pick: Tennessee Titans +1
