The Denver Broncos did it again this post season…  After signing Four-time NFL MVP Peyton Manning for five-years during the 2012 NFL free agency; the team has just mad an announcement that could impact the sportsbook betting industry.

Broncos vice president John Elway announced this morning that they have agreed to terms with former Patriots’ wide receiver and NFL record holder Wes Welker. Welker, who received his team’s franchise tag last offseason, received a proposal by the New England Patriots at the start of free agency, but was not happy with the amount offered. In five seasons playing for New England, Welker made approximately $18 million ($3.6 million per year), however, the Broncos agreed with Welker on a two-year contract worth $12 million ($6 million per year).

Since joining New England, Welker averaged 111 catches per season and currently holds the franchise record for consecutive games with receptions, having caught a pass in every game (regular and postseason. Welker owns an NFL record for the most passes catched, reaching 500 receptions with the in just 70 games and setting an all-time franchise record for receptions in just 79 games. He’s currently third in receiving yards in the NFL, right behind Troy Brown and Stanley Morgan, and was selected for the Pro Bowl in each of his past five seasons.

In addition to Welker’s deal, Denver recently added some crucial pieces, including Jaguars defensive tackle Terrance Knighton, unrestricted free-agent Stewart Bradley, formerly of Arizona, and cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, who played the past two seasons in Philadelphia.
