While looking over your NFL Week 5 betting matchups before the season, Indianapolis (4-0) and Tennessee (0-4) appeared to be a massive game, but instead, the Colts are rolling, and the Titans are still looking for their first win of the season.
Colts vs Titans Odds – Sunday, October 11, 8:20 PM ET
Peyton Manning for 300 yards or more for the fourth straight game as the Colts doubled Seattle 34-17, going 31-of-41 for 353 yards, two touchdowns and a pick. This is the first time in his career that Manning has accomplished this feat, and it’s even more amazing with a new coach, two of his top three receivers from last year missing, and a terrible ground game. Imagine what this offense will be like if they can get Joseph Addai up and running. The Colts may be Super Bowl favorites in your offshore sportsbook at some point this year.
The Titans committed three turnovers in a 37-17 loss in Jacksonville, and some people are calling for Kerry Collins’ head. The quarterback was 29-of-48 for 284 yards, a touchdown and a pair of picks, and bad things usually happen to the Titans when they have to lean on Collins, instead of their strong ground game. The Titans made David Garrard look like Joe Montana, and they’re currently at the bottom of the league in terms of pass defense.
The Colts are 3.5-point favorites in your sportsbook software, and they’ve won seven of their last 10 against the Titans, although those three losses have come in the last five meetings. Manning going up against the worst pass defense in the league doesn’t sound encouraging to online betting players thinking about Tennessee at all, and he has a 100.6 passer rating in 14 career games against them. The Titans need to control the clock with Chris Johnson and LenDale White like Miami tried to do a couple of weeks ago against the Colts, holding the ball for over 45 minutes. However, that didn’t work out for the Dolphins, and Tennessee’s defense is worse. Go with the Colts in your NFL picks.
