Seattle Seahawks @ Washington Redskins – Sunday January 6, 2013 4:30PM EST
The football betting experts could not ask for a better scenario than the one that will play itself out on Sunday in the NFC wild card playoff round. The Seattle Seahawks and its rookie sensation quarterback Russell Wilson face off against the Washington Redskins and its rookie sensation quarterback Robert Griffin III. These are two exciting quarterbacks that have made huge impressions on the entire NFL this season. When the season started, RGIII was the only mobile quarterback considered as a potential offensive rookie of the year candidate. But Wilson has changed the rules and has forced himself into that conversation as well.
The football betting sites notice a lot of similarities between the Redskins’ offense and the Seahawks’ offense. Aside from the mobile quarterbacks, both teams have big offensive lines and punishing running backs. The one thing that may play into the hands of the Seattle Seahawks is that RGIII is still hampered by the knee injury he suffered in week 15. While he was good enough to beat the Dallas Cowboys in week 17 for the NFC East title, it remains to be seen if he is good enough to beat the Seahawks.
Washington Redskins
The sportsbook experts were impressed with the entire Washington Redskins team this season. When the team was 3-6, it could have folded up shop and quit. But the team fought back and finished the season 10-6 to win the NFC East title. Key defensive injuries along the way may have limited the true effectiveness of the Redskins, but the fact that the team was able to battle its way into the playoffs is a credit to its heart. Rookie running back Alfred Morris adds an element to the Washington offense that no one expected and he could be one of the players that turns the tide in the favor of the Redskins.
Seattle Seahawks
A betonline.com review of the Seattle Seahawks shows that this team is more than just a flashy offense. Seattle has had one of the best defenses in the NFL for the entire season and it is a formidable weapon heading into the playoffs. Seattle can stop the run, rush the passer and defend against the long ball. The Seahawks’ defense has all of the tools it needs to limit the effectiveness of RGIII, especially when you consider that RGIII is already limited by a knee injury.
The Bottom Line
This game will be fun to watch and it will be invaluable experience for the rookie quarterbacks involved as well. But only one team will win, and that team will be the Seattle Seahawks. The Seattle offense is hitting on all cylinders and the Seahawks’ defense is much too talented to allow an injured RGIII get the best of it.
