The San Diego Chargers were shocked after their week one loss to Kansas City, as were many who take to NFL betting on a regular basis. However San Diego was able to bounce back against Jacksonville, showcasing the offensive prowess that makes them a perennial Super Bowl pick. The Seahawks, however, were riding high after a week one victory over San Francisco, only to lay a stinker against Denver last week. They’ll be hard pressed to reverse their fortunes against their former divisional rivals.
Chargers Seahawks Betting – Sunday, September 26th, 4:15 PM ET
All the good will Seattle (1-1) had after beating the 49ers was tossed out the window when they were hammered by the Broncos in week two. The Seahawks were shutout in the first half, only to get a pair of pity touchdowns in the second half in a 31-14 losing effort. Despite the interception-laden effort by Matt Hasselbeck, there is no indication the veteran will be replaced. That’s a pity, because his replacement is former San Diego third-stringer Charlie Whitehurst. It would have been interesting to see Whitehurst make his first NFL start against his former team.
Regardless of who starts for Seattle, they have a lot of work to do on both sides of the ball. After two games they rank in the bottom-10 of the league in points, passing yards and rushing yards allowed. Their defense, a plus in their game versus San Francisco, looked lost against Denver. And anyone who knows online football betting knows that a team with a struggling defense probably won’t do well against the San Diego Chargers.
Those Chargers (1-1), who looked unimpressive in week one, completely switched around in week two. The defense forced six turnovers against a Jaguars team that doesn’t allow too many turnovers. And the offense looked fantastic, even without Marcus McNeill and Vincent Jackson. Philip Rivers threw for over 300 yards and, despite throwing a couple of picks, looked like the elite quarterback San Diego needs him to be. The running game was solid, but not by whom you may think. Rookie Ryan Matthews left early with an injury, leaving the bulk of the power rush to third-string Mike Tolbert. He responded with over 100 yards and two touchdowns. The Chargers are a team that can get 100+ yards from their third string running back; that’s scary.
The sports betting odds favour San Diego, and with good reason. Their offense is clearly capable of succeeding without Jackson and McNeill, as their depth is unrivaled around the league. The Seahawks are, in reality, more like their performance in week two than they were in week one. Despite the home-field, Seattle won’t be able to get much done versus San Diego. The smart NFL pick is the Chargers.
