NFC Week 7 Predictions

Top 3 NFC Matchups-Week 7

The NFC remains wide open heading into Week 7. Every division leader has two losses so even teams like Dallas at 1-4 and San Francisco at 1-5 can get back in the race if they are able to string together a couple of wins. Philadelphia and New York made a statement in the East with impressive wins. The Eagles handed Atlanta its second loss of the season in a 31-17 romp and the Giants proved the last two weeks were not a fluke with a 28-20 win over the surprisingly tough Detroit Lions. New Orleans finally looked like the defending champs with a 31-6 beatdown of Tampa and Minnesota won the ‘desperation bowl’ over the Cowboys 24-21 for its second victory of the season.

Here is a look at my top three matchups in the NFC for Week 7 of the NFL season. All odds are provided by BetUS.com.

vs.

Arizona @ Seattle (-5 ½)                        Over/Under: 40 ½

Arizona is coming off a bye week following a big 30-20 victory over New Orleans in Week 5 in which rookie QB Max Hall’s two fumbles resulted in a Cardinals touchdown and a 10-yard gain. This week he will have WR’s Steve Breatson and Early Doucet back in the lineup after missing time with injuries.

Seattle finds itself tied with Cardinals at 3-2 atop the NFC West after beating Chicago 23-20 in a rare road victory last week. The Seahawks’ 24th ranked defense rose to occasion by sacking Bears QB Jay Cutler six times.

The home team in this series is 6-2 ATS in the last eight games and the favorite is 4-1 ATS in the last five games. The total has gone ‘over’ in nine of the last 12 games. Look for Seattle to take the first big step towards creating some separation in the West with a win.

vs.

Minnesota @ Green Bay (-3)                Over/Under: 44 ½

Minnesota came out on the winning side of its epic battle with Dallas, but the Vikings are still a far cry from last year’s team that ended up 12-4. Their offense is ranked 24th overall and they are ranked 27th in scoring, averaging only 17.4 points per game.

Green Bay’s multiple injuries added to some uncharacteristic sloppy play has led to an unexpected 3-3 start. The defense should get a boost this week with return of Clay Matthews, who missed the last few games with an injured hamstring.

The Vikings are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games played in Green Bay. The road team is 12-4 in the last 16 games between these two teams. The total has gone ‘over’ in the last four meetings. Minnesota takes advantage of the depleted Packers to win its fourth straight game against Green Bay.

vs.

N.Y. Giants @ Dallas (-3)                        Over/Under: 44 ½

New York’s defense has given up 33 points in the Giants last three games after giving up 88 points in their first three and would love nothing more to keep this trend going against its most bitter rival. The Giants’ offense is currently ranked seventh overall as the Eli Manning-to-Hakeem Nicks connection has been deadly.

Dallas has to find away to change things up in this game otherwise its season will basically be over. It is not that the Cowboys have been playing poorly; it is that they have continually found ways to shoot themselves in the foot with costly penalties and turnovers that have led to the 1-4 start.

The Giants are 4-1 ATS in their last five games against the Cowboys and the total has gone ‘over’ in six of the last nine games in this series. The red-hot Giants take great pleasure in burying Dallas in a Texas-sized 1-5 hole.
