Top 3 NFC Matchups – Week 3
Green Bay and New Orleans get the early nod as the two best teams in the NFC after running their record to 2-0 in impressive fashions. The Packers drilled Buffalo 34-7 behind Aaron Rodgers 255 yards passing and two TDs. The Saints pounded out a 25-22 win over San Francisco on Monday night with Drew Brees completing 28-of-38 attempts for 254 yards and two TD’s. Early Super Bowl favorites Minnesota and Dallas each dropped to 0-2 after the Vikings could only manage one touchdown in a 14-10 loss to Miami, while the Cowboys defense could not stop Chicago’s QB Jay Cutler in a 27-20 loss to Bears.
Here is a look at my top three matchups in the NFC for Week 3 of the NFL season. All odds are provided by Sportsbook.com

Atlanta Falcons @ New Orleans Saints (3 ½) Over/Under: 49.5
Atlanta responded from a dismal offensive showing in its opening day 15-9 loss to Pittsburgh with a 41-7 romp of Arizona. QB Matt Ryan threw for 225 yards and three TD’s but the real star of the day was backup RB Jason Snelling, who ran for 129 yards and added another 57 yards in receptions.
New Orleans has not looked nearly as dominant as it did last year, but the Saints are still 2-0 after two games. Against the 49ers, they had to kick a field goal as time expired to sneak out of town with a three point win.
The Saints are ripe for an upset after plodding their way through the first two games. Atlanta lost both games to New Orleans last season by a combined 11 points, but will find a way to reverse the outcome this time around.

Detroit Lions @ Minnesota Vikings (-11) Over/Under: 43
Detroit has to feel a little snake bit after its first two games as the Lions could very easily be coming into this game 2-0. They lost to Chicago on a last second touchdown reception that was later ruled incomplete and they stormed all the way back from a 35-17 deficit against Philadelphia only to come up short by three points.
Minnesota looks to be in serious trouble without its top to receivers and a quarterback that is suddenly starting to show his age. Vikings QB Brett Favre has only completed 58.7 percent of his passes and has already thrown four interceptions against just one TD.
The Lions have a great chance not only to keep this game close but to come away with an outright win against a Vikings team that could very easily spiral out of control if they get off to another bad start in this game.

Green Bay Packers (-3) @ Chicago Bears Over/Under: 46
Green Bay has backed up all the Super Bowl hype with two impressive performances in its first two games. The Packers offense is ranked 15th in total yards per game and third in points per game. Their defense is ranked seventh in points allowed and third in total yards allowed.
Chicago could be on the verge of a breakout season if QB Jay Cutler continues to play the way he did in last Sunday’s win over the Cowboys. His marriage to new offensive coordinator Mike Martz was shaky at first, but it is starting to gain some serious traction for the 2-0 Bears.
The Packers will be challenged is this game as the Bears are tough to beat in Chicago. Confidence is running high for Cutler and Philadelphia’s Michael Vick proved you can move the ball through the air against Green Bay’s secondary.
