New York Jets 2010 NFL Record:11-5 Home: 5-3 Away: 6-2

New York finished second in the AFC East last year with an 11-5 record. The Jets were 5-3 at home and 6-2 on the road. They went 4-2 in the division and 9-3 in the conference.

They beat Indianapolis 17-16 on the road in the Wildcard Round and New England 28-21 on the road in the Divisional Round of the playoffs, but lost to Pittsburgh 24-19 in the AFC Championship.

New York Jets 2011 Preview

Betting on the Jets to win it all should be a no-brainer after head coach Rex Ryan all but guaranteed his team will win the Super Bowl this season after back-to-back losses in the AFC Championship Game the past two years.. Ryan has the ability to back this promise up with the wealth of talent on the roster, but there is a certain team located of bit north of New York that might have something to say about this.

The Jets’ offense should continue to improve as Mark Sanchez continues to develop into a solid quarterback in this league. He may never be the next Tom Brady, but he threw 17 touchdowns verse 13 interceptions while completing 54.8 percent of his attempts in 2010. Compare this to the 53.8 percent completion rate and 12 touchdowns verse 20 interceptions as a rookie, and he is moving in the right direction. Fortunately, he now has Plaxico Burress as a target in the passing game and a running game led by Shonn Greene that was ranked fourth in the league last year.

Ryan, much like his father Buddy, still lives and dies with his defense. It has undergone some changes from last season with the departure of veteran lineman Shaun Ellis after the addition of defensive tackle Muhammad Wilkerson in the first round of the draft and lineman Kenrick Ellis in the second round, but should still remain one of the best in the league.

With a solid running game and a stingy defense, the Jets will once again be able to compete with New England for the division title. They actually beat the Patriots twice last season and have the confidence they can finally get past them to win the East this year. It just remains to be seen if New York has actually done enough to close the gap with its nemesis to the north.
