Minnesota Vikings 2010 Odds, Preview, and Predictions
Minnesota Vikings Current odds to win: Division: +150 Conference: 6-1 Super Bowl: 12-1
Minnesota won the NFC North last year with a 12-4 record. They were 8-0 at home and 4-4 on the road. They went 5-1 in the division and 9-3 in the conference.
They lost to the New Orleans Saints 31-28 in the NFC Championship game.
Minnesota Vikings Outlook for 2010
Last season with QB Brett Favre at the helm, Minnesota came within three points of returning to the Super Bowl. With unfinished business still on the table, it appears that Favre is willing to give it one more try to get there in 2010. The Vikings remain pretty much the same team as last year so if Favre does indeed return they should be set for another deep run.
With players like RB Adrian Peterson (1,383 rushing yards in 2009), WR’s Sidney Rice (1,312 receiving yards) and Percy Harvin (790 receiving yards) it is easy to see why the Vikings finished with the second ranked scoring offense and fifth ranked overall offense in the league. If you add Favre back into the mix you now have a guy who make the most out of all this talent.
Defensively, Minnesota used this year’s draft to add some depth at key positions. Second round pick CB Chris Cook should help solidify a secondary that was ranked 19th against the pass. DE Everson Griffen, taken in the fourth round is an excellent pass rusher and will be used dial up pressure on obvious passing downs. DE Ray Edwards will also be back after signing a one year tender for 2010.
One of the keys to last year’s success was the ability to beat Green Bay twice to secure the lead in the division. Something tells me the fate of the North will once again come down to week seven in Lambeau and week 11 at home.
2010 Minnesota Vikings Prediction: 11-5, second place in the NFC North with a wildcard berth in the playoffs.
