Indianapolis won the South last year with a 14-2 record. They were 7-1 at home and 7-1 on the road. They went 6-0 in the division and 10-2 in the conference.
They lost to the New Orleans Saints 31-17 in Super Bowl XLIV.
Indianapolis Colts Outlook for 2010
Given the fact that Peyton Manning is still the quarterback and for the most part last year’s roster has remained intact, there is no reason to believe that Indianapolis will not be right back on top in the South in 2010. One thing this organization knows how to do is win as they have won 10 or more games eight straight seasons and have won the division six of those years.
While everyone else in the league is already aware of how good they are, some of their offseason moves could make them even better. The Colts added free agent T Adam Terry, who was with Baltimore and drafted DE Jerry Hughes from TCU in the first round to help bolster an already strong offensive and defensive line.
To help improve a defense that was ranked 18th overall they drafted LB Pat Angerer from Iowa in the second round and CB Kevin Thomas from USC in the third. Both these players are extremely athletic and versatile and will make an immediate impact in a supporting role. Another key move was signing Gary Bracket to a long term deal that should allow the Pro Bowl linebacker to finish his stellar career as a Colt.
With plans to sign Manning to a long term contract sometime before the start of the regular season, Indianapolis is committed to not only getting back to the Super Bowl next season, but this time winning it. All the pieces are once again in place for another long run.
