Green Bay Packers 2010 Odds, Preview, and Predictions
Green Bay Packers Current odds to win: Division: +130 Conference: 7-1 Super Bowl: 14-1
Green Bay finished second in NFC North last year with an 11-5 record. They were 6-2 at home and 5-3 on the road. They went 4-2 in the division and 9-3 in the conference.
They lost to the Arizona Cardinals 51-45 in the Wildcard round of the playoffs.
Green Bay Packers Outlook for 2010
Green Bay’s 2009 season ended in one of the wildest playoff games in the history of the NFL. Packer QB Aaron Rodgers came of age in that game, throwing for 423 yards and 4TDs. Despite the heart breaking loss, Rodgers appears ready to finally put this team on his shoulders to get them to a championship.
If Rodgers is ready to lead this team to bigger and better things he definitely has the weapons surrounding him to get it done. With two 1000 yard receivers; Greg Jennings (1,113 yards) and Donald Driver (1,062 yards) and a 1000 yard rusher in Ryan Grant (1,253 yards) this team can beat you with both the pass and the run. Last year this offensive firepower combined to rank Green Bay third in league in point per game with 28.8 and sixth overall in total yards per game with 379.1. With another year under his belt as the starter along with some added bulk on the offensive line to help keep him upright, Rodgers could actually eclipse these numbers next season.
On the other side of the ball the defense put up some impressive numbers as well. They finished first against the run, fifth against the pass, and second overall. After resigning some key veterans along with adding some depth through the draft, the Packers are poised to turn in a similar performance in 2010. One guy to watch could be second round draft pick DT Mike Neal out of Purdue. He has the ability to defend the run as well as add some inside pressure on passing downs. Look for the Packers to work him into the rotation right from the start.
Green Bay finished the season playing their best ball of the year and if not for one last incredible performance by Arizona QB Kurt Warner could have very well made it all the way the Super Bowl last year. Once again the Packer’s season will come down to their ability to beat Minnesota to win the division and this time the cards appear to be in their favor.
2010 Green Bay Packers Prediction: 12-4, first place in the NFC North.
