Philadelphia Eagles
The sitcom Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia clearly isn’t being shot at Eagles Camp. Philadelphia threw away another one last week and now sits just 1-3 as headlines about the Dream Team now line bird cages and litter boxes. Their loss to San Francisco last week was especially disturbing as they surrendered 21 straight points at home to cough up the victory.
Down two games already in the division they are desperate for a win but where can they turn. The offense in cranking out yards (4th) while the defense although not great isn’t horrible either (16th). This team just doesn’t seem to be able to make winning plays which hardly sounds like a Dream Team to me. Everyone wants to pile on QB Micahel Vick but I think the blame needs to be more equally distributed.
Not only has Philly been losing but because public perception has been so high on them they have been a brutal bet with three ATS losses in a row. Buffalo is not a common opponent for them, they haven’t played each other since 2007 and not at Buffalo since 2003 – a win. With the line so low you just need to decide which side you think will win and play that. This is either a great opportunity or another trap. Tough one to call.
Buffalo Bills
The Buffalo Bills might have reverted back to form losing to Cincinnati last week or they just might have lost a football game…it happens. What happens next will largely help us in assessing what to make of the 3-1, tied for first place with the Patriots, Bills. The likelihood is that they neither as good or as bad as they have looked this season. Whatever they are, it sure is exciting.
Over the course of their four games the Bills have seen declining yardage performance. In the opening win against KC they out-gained their opponents by 151 yards in the blowout. The next week, In a tight game, they out-gained the Raiders by 27 but they have been out-gained the last two games including by a whopping 185 yards against Cincinnati last week. Is the competition just getting better or is it something more than that? The Bengals are hardly a juggernaut.
One thing that will make it difficult for the Bills to return to their winning ways is the injury to corner Terrence McGee. McGee is a quality corner and with him out it will be easier for Vick and Co. to continue moving up and down the field. That puts pressure on Ryan Fitzpatrick and the offense but that seems to be how to get the most of this group. Other than in the opener they seem to play better coming from behind.
The odds makers have the Philadelphia Eagles as a -1.5 point favorite with an over/under of 49.5.
