Cutler looks to improve against tough Steelers

NFL betting players didn’t foresee Jay Cutler’s awful performance in his regular-season debut for Chicago, and it doesn’t get any easier. The Bears host the defending Super Bowl champions from Pittsburgh, who are making their first trip to Soldier Field since 1995, but at least they’re favored.

Steelers vs Bears betting odds – Sunday, September 20, 4:15 PM ET

The Steelers overcome three turnovers and a terrible ground game to edge Tennessee 13-10 in overtime at home. Ben Roethlisberger did complete 33-of-43 pass attempts for 363 yards and a touchdown, but he was also picked off twice, and the Steelers gained only 36 rushing yards. The ground game is essential to the Steelers’ Super Bowl odds, so you know that was the focus of this week’s practices.

The Bears couldn’t overcome their turnovers in a 21-15 loss in Green Bay, and you can bet that Cutler wants that game back. He went 17-of-36 for 277 yards and a touchdown, but his four picks killed any chance of the Bears winning at Lambeau Field. If that wasn’t bad enough, the Bears lost their defensive leader as linebacker Brian Urlacher broke his wrist and it appears as though he’ll be out for the season. This is a huge blow to the Bears’ online betting odds, and your handicapping software will definitely drop Chicago down a notch.

Your offshore sportsbook has the Steelers as a 3-point favorite on the road, and they won five of their last six games away from home last year. The Steelers have won their last three meetings with the Bears, and they haven’t been to Chicago in 14 years, but they’re facing a team who are out to prove that last week’s performance was not the norm. The Steelers will be without the injured Troy Polamalu, which weakens the secondary for Cutler to exploit. Pittsburgh tried to run it up the middle against the Titans, who let Albert Haynesworth go, and they had no success. Look for them to try the same against the Urlacher-less Bears, who will put up a valiant fight, but fall just short. Take the Steelers in your NFL picks this weekend.
