Cincinnati Bengals 2010 Odds, Preview, and Predictions
Cincinnati Bengals Current odds to win: Division: 7-2 Conference: 13-1 Super Bowl: 25-1
Cincinnati was first in the North last year with a 10-6 record. They were 6-2 at home and 4-4 on the road. They went 6-0 in the division and 7-5 in the conference.
They lost to the New York Jets 24-14 in the Wildcard round of the playoffs.
Cincinnati Bengals Outlook for 2010
After a heartbreaking loss to Denver on opening day, Cincinnati went on to win seven of their next eight games on their way to a division championship. Despite their success, they way they finished up last season (1-3 in the last four regular season games and an ugly loss to the Jets in the playoffs) makes you wonder if they will be a true contender again this season or just go back to their losing ways.
QB Carson Palmer threw for over 3,000 yards with 21 TD passes, but he also threw 13 interceptions and fumbled the ball six times. The good news is that he did remain healthy, starting every game last year. WR Chad Ocho Cinco is coming off a decent year where he caught 72 balls for 1,047 yards and nine TD’s. Drafting TE Jermaine Gresham with the 21st overall pick should provide a big boost to this offense as he will be the huge red zone target they were so desperately lacking last year.
They also have RB Cedric Benson who is coming off his most productive year as a pro. He gained 1,251 yards on 301 carries and scored six TD’s. Benson was the bright spot in an offense that was ranked 24th overall but ninth in rushing yards per game.
The main thing the Bengals have going for them going into next season is a solid defensive core that can keep them in every game they play. They ended last year ranked fourth overall and sixth in points allowed. In this year’s draft they selected DE Carlos Dunlap in the second round and CB Brandon Ghee in the third in an effort to add some much needed depth to this unit.
After last season the Bengals will not sneak up on anyone and it is doubtful they can repeat their 6-0 record in the division. They will hang around the wild card chase all season long, but unfortunately fall just short.
2010 Cincinnati Bengals Prediction: 9-7, 2nd place in the AFC North.
