NFL Football Preview | San Diego Chargers at Denver Broncos
The San Diego Chargers finally started out of the gate with a roar in 2011, something they’ve been criticized for not doing in recent years. Now, they will face the Denver Broncos in the team’s second division game of the year.

The Denver Broncos, after loosing a close game to the Oakland Raiders in their season opener, haven’t gotten any better. They did beat the Cincinnati Bengals in week two, but then the Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers blew out two weeks later.

Now, the Broncos will host the San Diego Chargers, who are riding high after winning their last two games since being defeated by the New England Patriots in week two.
The Chargers finally jumped on teams to start the season, something that has really lacked since head coach Norv Turner joined the team.
Phillip Rivers is on pace, as so many others are at this point, to break Dan Marino’s record of passing yards in a season, but has thrown more interceptions than touchdowns, something he is not accustomed to in his still-young career.
Running back Ryan Mathews is finally putting up some numbers, although his 288 yards and three touchdowns in four games still doesn’t constitute his first-round draft pick status, but he close to becoming that feature back that they’ve lacked since Ladanian Tomlinson was ran out of town.
The Broncos are still dealing with their quarterback controversy, which should have been resolved a long time ago, and you can tell that it is taking its toll on quarterback Kyle Orton.
Orton has passed for 945 yards and eight touchdowns through four games, but is completing less than 60 percent of his passes, something that has been rare for Orton through his career.
If the Broncos are going to turn the tide of their ship, they will need to do it defensively. Head coach Jon Fox wants to bring tenacity on defense, like he had in Carolina for so many years, and rookie Von Miller is the perfect player for that. Miller is on pace to break the rookie record for sacks.
The odds makers have the San Diego Chargers as a -3.5 point favorite with an over/under of 46.
Matt’s Prediction: Chargers 28, Broncos 17 – The Chargers have so much firepower of offense, that I don’t see the Broncos being able to keep up with them. Take the Chargers to cover the spread at -3 easily. Even though the Bronco’s defense is coming up, they can keep people out of the end zone. They allowed 49 points against the Packers, and these Chargers have the same amount of brute.
