Arizona lost to Tampa Bay last week by three points, proving yet again you need a good QB to win games. Derek Anderson and Max hall have combined for five touchdowns and the Cardinals don’t exactly have a defense to count on to keep the score close, losing two games this year by allowing 41 points, and last week’s score was 38-35.
Opponents continue to build their stats when facing Arizona, passing for an average 231 yards a game (21st), and rushing for 143 (29th). Bad defense and bad scoring cooks up a recipe for a lot of losses, yet somehow this team has still won three games, including a 30-20 win over the reigning champion New Orleans Saints.
Minnesota has a stronger defense, which has been middle of the pack in most categories limiting opponents to 213 from the air (14th) and 102 on the ground (13), but has come a bit unglued as of late, losing two straight and three of its last four.
Wiley veteran Brett Favre is showing his age finally, but still has managed seven touchdowns and 1,450 yards, which is more than Arizona can claim from its quarterbacks.
The Vikings have a strong ground assault, ranking 7th with 134 a game. Adrian Peterson has scored six times to relieve some pressure off Favre, but somehow the team has only managed two wins. While it’s not a gimme, the Cardinals should be able to outscore Minnesota in this one.
The odds makers have the Minnesota Vikings as a -8 point favorite with an over/under of 40.5.
