Buffalo Bills 2010 NFL Record:4-12 Home: 2-6 Away: 2-6
Buffalo finished fourth in the AFC East last year with a 4-12 record. The Bills were 2-6 at home and 2-6 on the road. They went 1-5 in the division and 3-9 in the conference.
They failed to qualify for the postseason.
Buffalo Bills 2011 Preview
Buffalo’s odds to win either the AFC or the Super Bowl are the worst in the league, but this team is definitely not the worst team in the NFL. New head coach Chan Gailey has a wealth of experience in the league, having been the top guy in Dallas for two seasons and serving as offensive coordinator for four different teams in his NFL coaching career. It is doubtful the Bills will be able to turn things around this season especially with New England and New York in the division, but their small nucleus of talent should make them much more competitive than their record might indicate.
Ryan Fitzpatrick remains the starting quarterback for Buffalo and has shown some glimmers of greatness in his two seasons with the team. Last year he threw for 3,000 yards, but completed just 57.4 percent of his attempts. Wide receiver Lee Evans is now with Baltimore so look for Steve Johnson to have an even bigger year than his 82 receptions for 1,082 yards in 2010. Fred Jackson led the Bills in rushing last season, but you have to believe that Gailey will try and have second-year back C.J. Spiller play a much larger role in the offensive scheme this year.
Buffalo turned to the draft to address some of its most pressing needs on defense. It selected lineman Marcell Dareus with the third overall pick and defensive back Aaron Williams early in the second round. All told, the Bills used seven of their nine picks on this side of the ball. They also signed linebacker’s Kick Morrison as a free agent from Jacksonville and Nick Barnett from Green Bay to immediately fill some holes in the middle of the defense.
Buffalo could struggle early with Kansas City, New England, Philadelphia, and the New York Giants on the slate in the first six weeks, but there are still enough wins scattered throughout the schedule for the Bills to win five or six games this year.
