East Coast meets West Coast this Sunday when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers square-off against the San Francisco 49ers in a NFC showdown of two 3-1 teams. The kick-off for this one is set for 4:05 p.m. (ET) and the game will be broadcast regionally on FOX.

Tampa Bay ran its record to 3-1 straight-up (2-2 against the spread) with a 24-17 win over Indianapolis this past Monday as a 10-point home favorite. It only loss this season was an opening day 27-20 setback to Detroit as a one-point home favorite. The total has gone ‘over’ in three of its first four games.
The Buccaneers continue to get it done the old-fashioned way by running the ball and playing defense. LeGarrette Blount has run for 294 yards and the Bucs are averaging 117 yards a game which is ranked 11th in the NFL. The defensive is ranked 20th overall, but more importantly it is ranked ninth in points allowed; giving up just 19.2 points a game.
San Francisco improved to 3-1 SU (3-0-1 ATS) with a dramatic 24-23 come-from-behind victory over Philadelphia as a 9.5-point road underdog. It trailed 23-3 early in the third quarter, but rallied past the Eagles with 21 unanswered points down the stretch. The only red mark on its record was a 27-24 overtime loss to Dallas as a three-point home underdog. The total has gone ‘over’ in three of its four games.
This year’s 49ers will never be thought of as an offensive juggernaut, but Alex Smith has done a good job at managing the game so far with four touchdown passes verse one interception. Frank Gore continues to anchor the running game despite being a bit nicked-up at times. The real improvement on this team is on the defensive side of the ball where it is ranked 17th overall. Much like Tampa, it has done a great job at keeping opponents out of the end zone; giving up an average of 18.8 points a game.
The Buccaneers are 6-1 ATS in their last seven games as an underdog and 9-4-1 ATS in their last 14 games overall. The total has stayed ‘under’ in four of their last five road games.
The 49ers are 4-0 ATS in their last four games as a favorite and 4-0-1 in their last five games overall. The total has gone ‘over’ in five of their last six games overall.
The home team in this series is 6-1 ATS in the last seven meetings and the total has stayed ‘under’ in six of these games. Stick with Tampa Bay to buck this trend with an outright win, but the game once again stays ‘under’ the total.
The odds makers have the San Francisco 49ers as a -2.5 point favorite with an over/under of 41.
