Denver started the season with a tough 23-20 loss to Oakland as a three-point home favorite. Last Sunday against Cincinnati as a 3.5-point home favorite, it was clinging to a two-point lead heading into the fourth quarter and held on to beat the Bengals 24-22. The total went ‘over’ in both of these games.
Mounting injuries on both sides of the ball are the Broncos biggest concerns heading into this Sunday. Quite a few starters such as running back Knowshon Moreno and cornerback Champ Bailey remain questionable, but wide receiver Eddie Royal and tight end Julius Thomas are both out. Things got so bad last week that Tim Tebow lined-up in the slot as a receiver in certain formations.
Tennessee lost to Jacksonville 16-14 in its opener as a one-point road underdog in a game that stayed ‘under’ the 37.5-point line. While the Titans only generated 292 yards of total offense against the Jaguars, it exploded for 432 yards against Baltimore in a shocking 26-13 victory as a 5.5-point home underdog in last week’s game. The total went ‘over’ the 38.5-point line in this one.
Matt Hasselbeck continues to settle into his new surroundings and had to be encouraged by his 358-yard passing performance against the Ravens. The big question for this team is running back Chris Johnson, who has now gained a total of 77 yards on 33 carries since renegotiating his contract. All the new money seems to be weighing him down.
The Broncos are 1-5 against the spread in their last six road games and 1-4-1 ATS in their last six games overall. The total has gone ‘over’ in nine of its last 12 road games. The Titans are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games following a straight-up win. The total has gone ‘over’ in nine of their last 12 home games.
Denver beat Tennessee 26-20 as a six-point road underdog last season, but stick with the Titans at home this time around as they capitalize on the depleted Bronco lineup.
The odds makers have the Tennessee Titans as a -7 point favorite with an over/under of 42.
