Buffalo is no joke folks. Take a look at the teams that they have beaten this season – KC, Oakland, New England and Philadelphia have all fallen victim to this underrated team. The Bills are the total package – 13th in passing offense, 4th in rushing and 3rd in scoring. On defense, they have been leaky but opportunistic. They are 30th in yards allowed (422 yards per game) but they have forced at least two turnovers in each game this season. The defense has 16 takeaways and has returned three interceptions for touchdowns.
Ryan Fitzpatrick, Fred Jackson, Stevie Johnson, David Nelson and Scott Chandler are all playing at a high level – they are tough to handle.
The Giants are a tough team to predict. Going into Week 5 they looked very good – they were clicking on offense and had reeled off three straight wins. But last week, the team just looked bad. Defensively they let Tavaris Jackson and Charlie Whitehurst have good games. They gave up 145 yards rushing to the worst rushing team in the NFL and they turned the ball over 5 times.
The Giants offense has not been the problem. Eli Manning has been good – he passed for 420 yards against Seattle (three interceptions), Hakeem Nicks and Victor Cruz are having great seasons. Too bad about the running game – 28th ranked and averaging 83.80 yards per game.
If New York wants to be in that upper echelon of teams, they have to do something about their defense. Injuries is a big part of their misfortune but the unit as a whole is giving up 122.0 yards per game on the ground (21st), 251.2 yards per game against the pass (18th) and they are giving up an uncharacteristic 24.60 points per game (19th).
Betting Prediction: The Buffalo Bills are 8-3-1 ATS in their last 12 games as underdog and are 6-2 ATS in their last eight as road dog. The New York Giants are just 4-10 ATS as a home favorite and are 2-5 ATS in their last seven home games.
This game has shootout written all over it. Both teams have good offenses that will move the ball against the weak defenses. Turnovers could be the difference in this game. Buffalo has taken care of the ball for the most part this season while the Giants, although starting off well, gave the ball away five times last week. Buffalo has averaged over three takeaways per game this season. How can you bet against them?
The odds makers have the New York Giants as a -3 point favorite with an over/under of 50.5.
Pick: Buffalo Bills +3
