The AFC West, and here we will preview the four teams out west including that team, the San Diego Chargers (9-7), and the Denver Broncos (4-14).
The Chargers have dominated this division for the past six or seven years now, but the Chiefs took the title last year, and won’t expect anything less this year.
With the new season one can expect a challenging betting scenario in what is shaping up to be one of the most exciting years in the west in a long time, and here you will find out what the teams in the battle will look like.
Now that the 2011-2011 season is approaching, here are our season AFC West team previews & predictions from the top NFL handicappers.
2011 Denver Broncos Preview
There is one thing that the Broncos’ season will depend upon: their quarterback position. As I write this, there is a pretty intense battle going on between quarterbacks Kyle Orton and Tim Tebow. If Orton wins out, the team will have a veteran under center; if Tebow wins out, well, they’ll have Tebow. The rest of the team is still trying to find an identity.

2011 Kansas City Chiefs Preview
The reigning division champ will have to prove that they weren’t a one-year wonder by coming back stronger than ever. They have the league’s best running game with Jamal Charles leading the way, and a still-young quarterback in Matt Cassell. But it has yet to be seen if Cassell has the goods to lead the team into the playoffs and beyond. I’d be hard pressed to pick this team over the Chargers for a second year in a row.

2011 Oakland Raiders Preview
The biggest losers from the NFL’s free agency frenzy were the Raiders. Oakland lost its best defensive player (Nnamdi Asomugha and best offensive player (tight end Zach Miller), and said goodbye to their best offensive lineman when Robert Gallery headed to Seattle. Fortunately for them, Asomugha wasn’t the leader of their defense. That has to be given to Richard Seymour, and Miller wasn’t irreplaceable. Quarterback Jason Campbell will have to step up if this team is to improve upon their 8-8 record. The loss of those players wasn’t as big a blow as most think.

2011 San Diego Chargers Preview
The Chargers made some good moves in free agency, signing Bob Sanders and retaining Eric Weddle, but they had all the talent in the world last year, and nothing came of it. Will Phillip Rivers be able to pick his team up and get them back into the playoffs? I think so, but then again he had the stats in 2010 and they finished on the outside looking in. Norv Turner continues to show why he isn’t a viable option at the head coaching position, and they need to move on before their window is closed.
