AFC Top 3 Matchups – Week 9
New England’s 28-18 win over Minnesota coupled with Pittsburgh’s 20-10 loss to New Orleans and the New York Jets 9-0 loss to Green Bay leaves the 6-1 Patriots as King of the AFC Conference for at least this week. There are now five teams in the AFC with two losses including the Steelers and the Jets. The other three are Baltimore, Indianapolis, and the surprising Kansas City Chiefs. There are three additional teams in the conference with winning records; Tennessee at 5-3 and Miami and Houston at 4-3.

Here is a look at my top three matchups in the AFC for Week 9 of the NFL season. All odds are provided by BetUS.com.
Miami @ Baltimore (-5) Over/Under: 40 ½
Miami’s offense continues to get better each week as it is currently ranked 13th overall. The Dolphins are still having problems scoring points as they are only averaging 19 points a game. Defensively, Miami is ranked eighth overall, but 17th in points allowed; giving up an average of 21.3 per game.
Baltimore is coming off a bye week after beating Buffalo 37-34 the week before. While it was a welcomed sight to see the Ravens offense put so many points on the board, there has to be some concern giving up that many points to a Bills’ offense that is ranked 26th in the league.
The Dolphins are 13-3 ATS in their last 16 games as a road underdog. The Ravens are 1-4 ATS in their last five games as a favorite. The underdog is 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings between these two teams. Take Miami to shock Baltimore by winning this game outright on the road.
Kansas City @ Oakland (-2 ½) Over/Under: 40 ½
Kansas City will try and make it three wins in a row this week to take it record to 6-2 which would be quite an accomplishment considering it only won six games the past two seasons combined. The Chiefs currently have the 12th ranked offense in the league and the 16th ranked defense.
Oakland has outscored its opponents 92-17 in its last two games which has to be its biggest offensive output in nearly a decade. The Raiders suddenly find themselves with the eighth ranked offense in the league and the ninth ranked defense as they are getting done on both sides of the ball.
The road team is 19-6-1 in the last 26 games between these two teams. The Chiefs are 7-0 ATS in their last seven games played in Oakland while the Raiders are 1-11 ATS in their last 12 games as a home favorite. Take Kansas City to keep things rolling with an outright win on the road.
Pittsburgh (-5) @ Cincinnati Over/Under: 41
Pittsburgh’s offense is currently ranked 27th overall, but it is 16th in scoring; averaging 21 points per game. Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger has completed 52-of-82 attempts for 754 yards and five TD’s in the three games he has started. The Steelers’ defense is fifth overall and first against the run. It is also first in points allowed; giving up an average of just 14.6 points per game.
Cincinnati is ranked sixth in the league in passing offense but it is ranked 11th overall and 18th in scoring; averaging 20.9 points per game. The Bengals’ defense is ranked 19th overall; 20th against the pass and 23rd against the run. It is also ranked 24th in points allowed; giving up an average of 23.2 points per game.
Pittsburgh is 5-2 ATS in its last seven games against the Bengals and 7-1-1 ATS in its last nine games played in Cincinnati. The road team is 12-4-1 ATS in the last 17 games between these two teams. Take the Steelers minus the five points as Cincinnati appears very close to imploding as a team.
