AFC South Win Totals Predictions

2010 AFC South – Win Totals Preview, Predictions & Picks

AFC South Win TotalsWith all 32 teams eagerly preparing for the 2010 NFL football season, it is time to take a look at the projected win total for each team to try and determine whether they will go over, stay under, or push. Today we take a look at each team in the AFC South.

Indianapolis Colts – Win Total Prediction: 11

indianapolis colts previewWhen it comes to winning regular season games, nobody has done it better over the past decade than Indianapolis. Over the past eight seasons the Colts have won at least 10 games every year. In 2009 they reeled off 14 straight wins before putting their starters on the shelf in a loss to the Jets in Week 16. With QB Peyton Manning running the offense and pretty much the same roster as last year, it is hard to see this team wining less than 12 games in 2010. Another thing in the Colt’s favor is they play the AFC West and are home against the Chargers – OVER.

Tennessee Titans – Win Total Prediction: 8.5

tennessee titans previewA disastrous 0-6 start last season ended Tennessee’s quest for back to back AFC South titles, but there were a couple of positive takeaways that should hopefully carry over into 2010. First, QB Vince Young appears to be once again ready to lead this team after being sent to the bench in favor of Kerry Collins in 2008. He started the final 10 games last year and led the team to an 8-2 record. Second, the emergence of Chris Johnson as the premier running back in the league after rushing for 2,006 yards last season. The big question for the Titans is can they improve a defense that was ranked 28th overall in 2009 – UNDER.

Houston Texans – Win Total Prediction: 8

houston texans previewHouston finished 8-8 last season, posting its first non-losing record in franchise history. There is little doubt that the Texans have one of the most explosive passing games in the league. QB Matt Schaub led the league with 4,770 passing yards and WR Andre Johnson led in receiving yards with 1,569. To take the next step they will have to improve upon a rushing offense that was ranked 30th to create a better balance. Defensively, Houston continues to improve and addition of first round pick CB Kareem Jackson and third round pick DT Earl Mitchell should add some depth to a unit that was ranked 13th overall last year – OVER.

Jacksonville Jaguars – Win Total Prediction: 7

jacksonville jaguars previewJacksonville made the playoffs in 2007 but has been on slide ever since. It won just five games in 2008 and seven games last year. Last season, the Jaguars were ranked 18th in total offense and 23rd in total defense as the problems on this team were widespread. One of the keys to a turnaround in 2010 centers around the play of QB David Garrard. In 2009 Garrard only completed 60.9 percent of his throws and had a passer rating of 83.5 which was a far cry from his 102.2 rating back in 2007. Another key will be better play from a defensive secondary that was ranked 27th overall – UNDER.
