2010 AFC North – Win Totals Preview, Predictions & Picks
With all 32 teams eagerly preparing for the 2010 NFL football season, it is time to take a look at the projected win total for each team to try and determine whether they will go over, stay under, or push. Today we take a look at each team in the AFC North.
Baltimore Ravens – Win Total Prediction: 10
It took a win the final regular season game to get Baltimore into the playoffs last season, but a dominating 33-14 win over the Patriots in New England in the Wildcard round proved it belonged. With the addition of WR’s Anquan Boldin and Dante’ Stallworth, the Ravens have recommitted themselves to QB Joe Flacco and the passing game. Stallworth will most likely miss the first half of the season with a foot injury, but Flacco already has plenty of other weapons to throw the ball to.. They also took a hit on defense when their first round draft pick, LB Sergio Kindle, injured his head in an off-field accident and could be lost for the season. None the less, this team appears ready to pick up where it left off for an even deeper run in 2010 – OVER.
Pittsburgh Steelers – Win Total Prediction: 8 ½
Starting QB Ben Rothlisberger will miss at least the first four games of the regular season because of an NFL suspension. In his place will most likely be Byron Leftwich, but do not be surprised if Head Coach Mike Tomlin works Dennis Dixon into the mix as well. The big question for this team is what happens when Big Ben does come back? While team unity appears to be pretty good at this point, this is still a very fluid situation that could go either way as Roethlisberger attempts to earn his way back into the team’s good graces – OVER.
Cincinnati Bengals – Win Total Prediction: 8
In an effort to improve a passing game that finished the 2009 season ranked 26th in the league, Cincinnati drafted TE Jermaine Gresham in the first round to provide QB Carson Palmer a bigger presence over the middle of the field. In a surprise move they also added veteran WR Terrell Owens as a solid possession receiver and potential deep threat. The combination of Chad Ochocinco and Owens could be an explosive one but also runs the risk of imploding this team. So far all parties are happy, but let us see what happens after one of them goes a whole game without a catch or the team suffers an ugly loss due to a poor performance by Palmer – UNDER.
Cleveland Browns – Win Total Prediction: 5 ½
Ever since former head coach/general manager Mike Holmgren took over as Cleveland’s new team president, optimism that the Browns are poised for a breakout season continues to grow. One of his first moves was to sign veteran single-caller Jake Delhomme as his starting quarterback. His next was to use the draft to add some playmakers on defense. First round pick CB Joe Hadden brings a style of play that should make an immediate impact on a team that was ranked 29th against the pass and 31st overall. The Browns also added FS T.J Ward in the second round and SS Larry Asante in the fifth to add some depth to the secondary. Cleveland will not be a worst to first story, but should be able to win more games than last year – OVER.
