San Francisco 49ers vs Philadelphia
It seems like there will always be the same question before every Philadelphia Eagles game, “Will Michael Vick be healthy (enough)?” This week, the answer looks to be yes, but he won’t be the deciding factor in the team’s game Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers. No, that will rest on the shoulders of their dynamic running back LeSean McCoy.

A 2-1 team will face a 1-2 team this Sunday in Week 3 of the NFL’s regular season. If I told you this sentence before the season, and inputted the San Francisco 49ers into the 2-1 spot, and the Philadelphia Eagles into the 1-2 spot, you would’ve laughed. And written me off for the season.
Vick says he is ready to go for this game, but it doesn’t matter if is he is or not. The Eagles have another dynamic player that can take over a game — LeSean McCoy.
The Eagles’ dynamo has been doing it through the first three games, rushing for 345 yards and four touchdowns on 57 carries, while catching nine balls for 49 yards and a touchdown.
If McCoy can continue this dominance through the season, the Eagles won’t be on the wrong side of .500 for long.
As for the 49ers who have won two games, they have done it in embarrassing fashion.
They beat the Seattle Seahawks handedly, but they gave away the game against the Dallas Cowboys in overtime. They also looked incompetent against the Cincinnati Bengals last week in their 13-8 victory.
A lot of this can be blamed on quarterback Alex Smith (once again), as he has been the same player everyone thought he was going to be in 2011, because he hasn’t proven he an be anything better. He has given away the ball far to many times, and he is lucky that he is backed up by the team’s great defense, or else the Niners very well could have been outscored worse than the Kansas City Chiefs through three games.
If the Eagles finally find some consistency, and if Nnamdi Asomugha can live up to that huge contract, then they just might have a chance to be something special, and they can most likely find their groove against these 49ers.
The odds makers have the Philadelphia Eagles as a -5.5 point favorite with an over/under of 22.
Matt’s Prediction: Eagles 28, 49ers 17 – It is hard to think that the 49ers will be able to hold back the Eagles’ offense for as long as it will take for Smith to build any sort of respectable drive. This game could get out of hand quick, especially if Vick comes out firing on all cylinders.
