Welcome to the best and most complete 2009 NFC West season preview available online. The 2009 NFC West season preview is not going to be real exciting since there is really one team with a chance to do anything. The four teams comprising the NFC West Division are the Arizona Cardinals, San Francisco 49ers, St. Louis Rams, and Seattle Seahawks. The Cardinals had an improbable run a season ago when they won the NFC Championship and nearly defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers in the Super Bowl. The Cardinals won a weak NFC West after they finished with a record of 9-7. The 49ers finished 2nd in the division with a record of 7-9. The Seahawks finished well back with a very disappointing record of 4-12. Rounding out this lackluster division the Rams struggled all year and won only 2 games finishing at 2-14. Looking towards the 2009 season, the St. Louis Rams have the division’s toughest schedule while the NFC champion Cardinals will have the easiest schedule.
The Cardinals will host the 49ers to open the season and then these teams meet again in Week 14 when they square off in San Francisco. Arizona will carry the momentum from last seasons playoff run into the 2009 season. They will once again be carried by their potent passing attack and will score enough points to win the division with a 10-6 record. The Seahawks will be much improved with a healthy Matt Hassleback at Quarterback. They will be in the divisional race all year long and will finish one game back at 9-7. The 49ers will once again be a mediocre team and finish with a record of 8-8. St. Louis will not be quite as pitiful as the year before but will only manage a few more wins and end the season at 5-11.
2009 Arizona Cardinals NFC West Preview
The Arizona Cardinals are the reigning NFC Champions and this momentum will stay with them going into this season. QB Kurt Warner was excellent for them last year and will once again have a good season in 2009. With Pro Bowl WR Larry Fitzgerald and a playmaker to go along with him in Anquan Boldin the Cardinals will once again have an explosive passing attack. They drafted RB Chris “Beanie” Wells with their 1st Round draft pick this year. He will be a big help to running game that was pitiful a season ago. The defense is returning practically the same unit from a season ago and will need to be better in pass coverage. They will be what prevents this team from winning even more games. Arizona finishes the year at 10-6 and will repeat as NFC West champions.

2009 San Francisco 49ers NFC West Preview
Mike Singletary is starting his first full season as Head Coach. He has earned the respect of the team and has them on the right track towards becoming a playoff caliber team. This team’s biggest question mark is who will be the starting QB when the season begins. Whether it is Shaun Hill or former No.1 draft pick Alex Smith they will need to perform give the team more production at this position than a season ago. The drafting of WR Michael Crabtree addresses some concern they had at that position. The 49ers will be a decent team again this year but will lose some close games that will cost them in the end. They finish the 2009 season at 8-8.

2009 Seattle Seahawks NFC West Preview
The Seattle Seahawks struggled mightily with QB Matt Hassleback missing most of the year with an injury. New Head Coach Jim Mora will hope that free agent acquisition WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh will be able to step in make big plays for Hassleback. Julius Jones will be the starting Running Back this year and he will have a solid season. The defense has a new stud LB in 1st Round pick Aaron Curry. He along with Lofa Tatupu make for a solid Linebacking unit. Adding a few new Defensive Lineman to the team will make the defense a sturdy one this year. Seattle will make a comeback from a dismal previous season and finish 2009 with a 9-7 record.

2009 St. Louis Rams NFC West Preview
St. Louis Rams new Head Coach Steve Spagnuolo inherits a team who was dismal a season ago. The Rams just do not have enough playmakers on offense to win games. They will need RB Steven Jackson to stay healthy this year and will need WR Donnie Avery to step up and make some big plays for QB Marc Bulger. Spagnuolo is a defensive minded coach who will help this improve on that side of the ball. St. Louis will win a few more games than in 2008 but is still lacking enough quality players to become a good team. The Rams will need to wait a few more years until they are back in the hunt. They will finish this season at 5-11.
