2009 AFC East Season Preview

2009 AFC East NFL PreviewWelcome to the best and most complete2009 AFC East Season Preview available online. The AFC East last year had some pretty good teams with the Patriots, Dolphins, and Jets competing for the division. And 2009 should be even better and our 2009 AFC East Season Preview will get you ready for all the football action. The teams making up the 2009 AFC East are the Miami Dolphins, New England Patriots, New York Jets, and Buffalo Bills. The Miami Dolphins shocked every NFL fan a year ago when they ended up winning the division with a record of 11-5. They finished with the same record as the New England Patriots but won the division based on having the better conference record which was the 4th tie-breaker for the division title. The Jets were in the playoff hunt for most of the season but faltered late in the year and finished at 9-7. Buffalo rounded out the division with a record of 7-9. For the 2009 season the Miami Dolphins have the toughest schedule in the entire NFL while the Jets have the division’s easiest schedule.

Going into the 2009 AFC East Season there are two key players who were not part of their 2008 teams who should make big impacts. New England QB Tom Brady is returning as the teams starter missing the 2008 season with injury. Buffalo acquired former Dallas Cowboy WR Terrell Owens to help bolster there offense. In Week 1 these 2 teams meet up in New England to kick off the season. In Week 9 New England will host Miami, a rematch of the division’s top 2 teams from a season ago. With Tom Brady returning this season New England is going to have a monster year in 2009. They should win the division easily finishing at 14-2 and once again become one of the top teams in the NFL. The Bills will be improved but will come up short of the playoffs finishing at 8-8. Miami will come back to earth this year and will be unable to repeat last years performance finishing at 7-9. The Jets will struggle a bit with a rookie QB and will also finish at 7-9.

2009 Buffalo Bills AFC East Preview

Buffalo Bills fans are anxious to see what explosive WR Terrell Owens can do for a team unable to make the playoffs a year ago. Owens brings lots of attention to the Bills and should have a good year for them. I expect Buffalo to be in the playoff hunt for most of the year with 3rd year QB Trent Edwards having his best year as a pro in 2009. Buffalo will start the season strong and then falter late in the year. Nothing new for TO here, he will become frustrated as the season progresses and will be disruptive by years end. The Bills will end the season losing a few games late and will finish out of the playoffs at 8-8.

2009 Miami Dolphins AFC East Preview

miami dolphins season previewThe Miami Dolphins had an amazing year a season ago winning the division and finishing the season at 11-5. Unfortunately they will not be able to sneak up on teams like they did last year and will struggle much more with their 2009 AFC East Schedule. They used the Wildcat formation effectively last year and teams had trouble stopping it. This will not be as easy of a task in 2009 as teams will adjust and the Dolphins will struggle to score points. Ronnie Brown is an effective RB but he will not be enough and Miami will finish the year at 7-9 and miss the playoffs.

2009 New England Patriots AFC East Preview

new england patriots afc preview

The New England Patriots are thrilled to welcome back their Pro Bowl QB Tom Brady for the 2009 AFC East season. Without Brady, departed QB Matt Cassel performed well but was unable to lead New England to the playoffs. A healthy Brady back under center will recharge the Patriots offense and they will be one of the highest scoring teams in the league. With Head Coach Bill Belichek still manning the sidelines New England is poised to take back control of the division and will return as a Super Bowl favorite. I expect New England to come out the gates hot and stay that way for all of 2009. The Patriots will finish at 14-2 and easily win the division title.

2009 New York Jets AFC East Preview

new york jets season preview

The New York Jets fans are very excited as the team traded up to draft USC QB Mark Sanchez with the 5th pick in this years draft. Sanchez seems to have all the tools to become a solid QB in this league. In 2009 however this team will face some struggles with a rookie QB under center. I feel they are a year or two away from challenging New England for the division title. Sanchez will have some good games, but will struggle at times dealing with the 2009 AFC East defenses. The Jets finish the year with a 7-9 record and won’t be in the playoffs.
