It has been an interesting season as we head into the final week of regular PAC-10 season action and with it comes the end of an era, as the PAC-10 becomes the PAC-12 in 2011.

The Pac-10 has just four teams with winning records and only Oregon, Stanford, and Arizona are currently bowl eligible. USC has seven wins, but sanctions prohibit the Trojans from playing in a postseason bowl, while the rest of the division seems to be struggling to fill its bowl allotment.

There’s a chance the conference will have four bowl teams, as Washington can play into a bowl for the first time since 2002 with a win over Washington State in the Apple Bowl on Saturday.

There is a chance that Oregon State could become bowl eligible should they pull off the upset in Saturday’s Civil War game against Oregon, who if they should lose, would miss their chance at playing for its first national championship.

The Beavers lost a chance at the Rose Bowl in last year’s Civil War and would like to return the favor by spoiling the Ducks’ national-title bid, so look out. Now let’s take a look at this week’s match ups

vs.

Arizona State (5-6, 3-5) at No. 23 Arizona (7-4, 4-4), 8 p.m., ESPN

The Wildcats have lost three consecutive games coming into Tuesday’s Duel in the Desert against the Arizona State Sun Devils who after losing starting QB Steven Threet, tossed in backup QB Brock Osweiler who came off the bench and was brilliant against UCLA.

Oswieler will get the start on Thursday, but the Devils bowl hopes have already been lost. They could however end a very good season by thrashing their rivals from Tucson. Arizona State has shown the ability to both score and keep opponents in check but they have also been blasted on both sides of the ball at times.

It won’t be easy as the ‘Cats are one of the more balanced teams in the PAC-10 despite their defense getting hammered in the past few weeks.

If recent play is an indicator, I like the Devils by a touchdown in this one.

Odds: Arizona State: +5 – Arizona: -5 Over/Under: 55

vs.

No. 2 Oregon (11-0, 8-0) at Oregon State (5-6, 4-4), 3:30 p.m., ABC

The Ducks are one win away from playing for national title. But first, they must take care of the Beavers in the Civil War. It has been a disappointing season in Corvallis, but ending Oregon’s national title run would be a nice consolation prize.

The spread is more than two touchdowns, and normally I would tend to think that is way too many points for a rivalry game of this caliber. However, Mike Riley’s Beavers are just not the same team after losing James Rodgers.

Combine that with the 400 yards allowed defensively per game and Chip Kelly’s Ducks spread offense and this could get ugly early.

The Beavs only hope to score early and in bunches and dam up the flood as the Ducks have a tendency to start slow and then pile it on at the end.

Sorry Beavers fans, I think this is the end of the road.

Prediction: Oregon – Bet Now

Odds: Oregon: -16.5 – Oregon State: +16.5 Over/Under: 64

vs.

Washington (5-6, 4-4) at Washington State (2-9, 1-7), 7 p.m., Versus

The Huskies can become bowl eligible with a win in this year’s edition of the Apple Cup at Washington State.

The Huskies snapped their three-game losing skid with back-to-back wins over UCLA and Cal while the Cougars are hoping to play spoilers and maybe for coach Paul Wulff’s long term employment status.

The Cougs have had three weeks off since their win over Oregon State and plenty enough time to scheme a plan for Washington’s demise. With the improvements leading up to the Cougars win over OS, their chances of an upset seem very plausible.

However, with Locker back in the lineup, I think the Huskies are the straight up choice in this one.

Prediction: Washington – Bet Now

Odds: Washington: -6 – Washington State: +6 Over/Under: 54.5

vs.

USC (7-5, 4-4) at UCLA (4-7, 2-6), 10:30 p.m., FSN

If Lane Kiffin thinks he’s had a long year, losing to cross town rival the UCLA Bruins will make the offseason even longer.

Fans will say goodbye to the PAC-10 conference after 33 years when the two teams close out the season, making way for the new PAC-12 in 2011.

Ironically, USC and UCLA also played the final game in the history of the Pac-8 back on November 25, 1977, the Friday after Thanksgiving.

A win for the Bruins would go along way for Rick Neuheisel who has also had a tough season at the helm.

Since the USC defense has had its share of narrow escapes –fading away late in game — and considering the Bruins decent rushing attack, I’m calling this the upset pick of the week.

End your PAC-10 college football-betting season by taking the Bruins and the points this one.

Prediction: UCLA – Bet Now

Odds: USC: -6.5 – UCLA: +6.5 Over/Under: 54
