Notre Dame (5-5) at USC (7-4), 8 p.m., ABC
USC QB Matt Barkley will likely be watching from the sideline as his Trojans try to make it nine wins in a row over the Fighting Irish.
USC backup QB Mitch Mustain didn’t look good in relief last time out either, completing 8 of 17 passes for 60 yards.
Looking like they were well on their way to a 10-win season, USC was hammered by Oregon State a week ago and are appearing to finish more like 8-5 as they prepare to host a resurgent Notre Dame team that is coming off back-to-back wins over No. 14 Utah, followed by a dominating performance over Army last weekend, with a combined 55-6 over that span.
The Golden Domers are already bowl-eligible, but if they beat the Trojans and get to 7-5, they could upgrade their bowl options, while USC, of course, can’t play in a bowl game. It’s only motivations are pride and retaining the Jeweled Shillelagh.
Is the motivation factor enough?
