2009 Record: 8-5 SEC Record: 4-4 2010 Returning Starters: 17: 10 Offense, 5 Defense, Kicker, Punter

Coach: Mark Richt (Georgia and overall: 90-27, 9 years)

Offensive Coordinators: Mike Bobo Defensive Coordinators: Todd Grantham

2010 Georgia Players to Watch: RB Washaun Ealey, WR A.J. Green, DE Demarcus Dobbs, SS Bacarrl Rambo, P Drew Butler, K Blair Walsh

2010 Georgia Strengths:
There’s plenty of experience on offense, including astrong running game with Ealey and Caleb King. Green is one of the most gifted receivers in the country. The kicking tandem of Butler and Walsh probably is the nation’s best.

2010 Georgia Weaknesses:
The new aggressive 3-4 defensive scheme will have the potential to make big plays – or give them up. While there’s talent at quarterback, all the candidates are unproven.

2010 Georgia Offense:

Whether it’s Aaron Murray or Logan Gray at quarterback, Georgia has the experience elsewhere on offense to make the transition easier. And it sure helps to have one of the best receivers in college footban A.J. Green. He caught 53 passes last year despite being limited to eight starts due to injuries. Green will have a little more help this year. Receivers Tavarres King and Rantavious Wooten and tight end Orson Charles, all sophomores, appear ready to break out after getting their feet wet in the SEC. The Bulldogs, hammered with injuries on the offensive line for two years, have developed talent and depth. Left guard Cordy Glenn was the team’s offensive MVP for the spring. Clint Boling is set at left tackle and Ben Jones at center. Richt pointed to the midseason returns of Chris Davis at right guard and Josh Davis at right tackle as a key reason the running game nnally clicked. Caleb King and Washaun Ealey might be the second-best tandem of running backs in the SEC behind Alabama’s Mark Ingram and Trent Richardson.

2010 Georgia Defense:

New coordinator Todd Grantham has installed a 3-4 scheme that will be very aggressive. With Demarcus Dobbs and Abry Jones lining up at the tackles and Justin Houston now a blitzing outside linebacker, the Dawgs are going to be able to bring pressure from several directions. Dobbs and Houston combined for 12 sacks and 36 hurries last year – especially impressive since Dobbs wasn’t a full-time starter. Cornelius Washington, who had four sacks and 15 hurries, lines up at the other outside linebacker spot. The inside linebacker corps is deep with Akeem Dent, Darryl Gamble, Marcus Dowtin, Christian Robinson and Richard Samuel, a converted running back. The secondary is younger but more talented than it was last year. Brandon Boykin showed his athleticism last season as a kick returner and has plenty of speed to cover the fastest receivers. Vance Cuff, a senior, had an excellent spring. When Branden Smith lines up opposite Boykin, the Dawgs will have as fast a pair of cornerbacks as there is anywhere. Nick Williams, a converted linebacker, and junior college transfer Jakar Hamilton had solid springs at free safety. Williams has more experience, but Hamilton is a ferocious hitter who has big-play capability.

2010 Georgia Special Teams:

Drew Butler was a nrst-team All-American, leading the country in punting average at 48.1 yards. Blair Walsh was among the top three placekickers in the country. He was 20 of 22 on field goal attempts, one of those misses being coming from 56 yards. He was 11 of 12 from 4o-plus yards.

2010 Georgia Predictions:

The Bulldogs might be the sleeper in the conference with a new quarterback and completely overhauled defense. While some observers believe the program peaked two years ago, there’s still plenty of talent on both sides of the ball. Whether there’s enough talent to catch Florida in the East Division is questionable.
