After this week there is going to be a lot of waiting around for Big Ten teams. Due to the fact that BCS standings will determine the Rose Bowl bid recipient if Ohio State, Michigan State and Wisconsin all tie it is possible that we may not know who the real winner is until a couple of weeks from now after all the championship games are played and the final standings are in. Thankfully this is the last year for this wacky formula with Nebraska joining the conference next year leading to a conference championship game. Of the three contenders I think OSU has the toughest final test. Michigan with Denard Robinson should have some success against the Buckeye D and you really never know what you are going to get from Terrelle Pryor. In my opinion it would be nice to see the Spartans get some love and see OSU in something lame like the Citrus Bowl…although it will probably be the reverse.

vs.

Indiana @ Purdue – 12:00 PM ET

Kudos to the Boilermakers for giving the Spartans a scare last week. It is a sign of good coaching when a team can play like that with nothing on the line so maybe Purdue is a team to watch next year if they can stay healthy. Meanwhile Indiana got their lunch handed to them against Penn State and now have to win on the road against in-state rival Purdue to avoid a winless season in Big Ten play. They have been close a couple of times and you have to think that senior QB Ben Chappell doesn’t want to end his career in such dismal fashion.

Prediction: Indiana 38 – Purdue 28 – Bet Now

Odds: Indiana: +3 – Purdue: -3 Over/Under: 53.5

vs.

#10 Michigan State @ Penn State – 12:00 PM ET

The Spartans woke up soon enough to beat Purdue last week so their Rose Bowl and BCS hopes are still alive. I am no tiebreaker expert but for that to happen guaranteed they need to win and at least one loss from either Wisconsin or Ohio State. Iowa which dealt them their only loss almost helped them out by beating OSU but it wasn’t meant to be I guess. The Spartans should handle PSU this week but if they really want to make a BCS bid they should put forth a stronger effort than they have the last few weeks. They haven’t looked good since beating Michigan several weeks back.

Prediction: Michigan State 38 – Penn State 21 – Bet Now

Odds: Michigan State: -1.5 – Penn State : +1.5 Over/Under: 51

vs.

Michigan @ #8 Ohio State – 12:00 PM ET on ABC

The Buckeyes have won an amazing six in a row against Michigan going 5-1 ATS in the process. The Wolverines are much improved this year as Denard Robinson has proved to be one of the most exciting players in college football. I am sure he will get loose a few times on Saturday but I don’t think it will be enough to swing the game Michigan’s way. The opening line is OSU -17.5, only once in the past 10 years has it been bigger, when Ohio State thumped the Wolverines 42-7 two years ago. Given the high probability of a three way tie for the conference lead OSU has to put forth a dominant effort to leap frog a Badger team which beat them earlier in the year. I think Michigan will lose but their performance might be just enough of a thorn to keep the buckeyes from the promised land of Pasadena.

Prediction: Ohio State 45 – Michigan 35 – Bet Now

Odds: Ohio State: -16.5 – Michigan: +16.5 Over/Under: 63.5

vs.

#24 Iowa @ Minnesota – 3:30 PM ET

If the Hawkeyes were playing almost anybody but Minnesota I would probably predict an ugly loss after their heartbreaker against the Buckeyes. Even though the Gophers won last week the talent gap here is just too great. Amazingly Minnesota hasn’t won a home game all season. They will play them tough in their season finale but in the second half Iowa will remember that they have no business letting Minnesota think they have a chance to win.

Prediction: Iowa 45 – Minnesota 13 – Bet Now

Odds: Iowa : -15.5 – Minnesota: +15.5 Over/Under: 51.5

vs.

Northwestern @ #7 Wisconsin – 3:30 PM ET on ABC

The Wildcats minus their heroic QB Dan Persa are all than stand between the Badgers and a possible trip to the Rose Bowl. They are at home in Madison which makes this game a near lock for Wisconsin who should be able to push around the Wildcats with their dominant running game. NW hasn’t won in Madison since 2000 although they have enjoyed success against the Badgers. Their wins have usually been of the high scoring variety and without Persa that is going to be a tough order. Freshman QB Watkins is a big pivot and shouldn’t be scared but he is not nearly as nimble with his feet which is what will be required with the pressure the Badgers are likely to bring. Wisconsin smells the coast and nothing is going to stand in their way.

Prediction: Wisconsin 41 – Northwestern 24 – Bet Now

Odds: Wisconsin: -23 – Northwestern: +23 Over/Under: 57.5
