No great matchups this week as most teams have scheduled easy wins to ease into conference play. A couple of teams might be caught looking ahead to facing old rivals but with the exception of one all Big Ten teams will enter the conference schedule on a winning streak. The most entertaining game should be a see saw battle between CMU and Northwestern, the rest should be mostly over by halftime.

Central Michigan @ Northwestern – 12:00 PM
The Chippewas are no MAC pushover so Northwestern better be ready to play and not looking ahead to their Big Ten opener against Minnesota next week. CMU rebounded to wallop eastern Michigan last week while NW was workmanlike against Rice. This line had already shrunk from -9.5 to -7. Let’s see if it continues to go down throughout the week.
Prediction: Northwestern 33 – Central Michigan 30 – Bet Now
Odds: Central Michigan: +7 – Northwestern: -7 – Over/Under: 48.5

Toledo @ Purdue – 12:00 PM ET
Despite the back to back wins Purdue has been really unimpressive the last two week – they failed to cover against Western Illinois and Ball State. Leading the way (actually not) had been transfer QB Robert Marve. He is averaging less than 200 yards per game with 4 INTs already. Toledo has won two in a row as well and is a good team to back in this one at +12.5.
Prediction: Purdue 27 – Toledo 24 – Bet Now
Odds: Purdue: -12.5 – Toledo: +12.5 – Over/Under: 49.5

Northern Colorado @ #25 Michigan State – 12:00 PM ET
Michigan State has earned a bit of a respite after last week’s thrilling finish against Notre Dame. Northern Colorado is 2-1 in the FCS this year but no team that gives up 50 points to Weber State should be much of a threat to any Big 10 member. The Spartans might be a little sluggish to start but by game end something like 45-6 seems right.
Prediction: Michigan State 45 – Northern Colorado 6 – Bet Now

Bowling Green @ #21 Michigan – 12:00 PM ET on ESPN2
The Wolverines stumbled last week and almost let the game slip away. Speaking of slipping away, can anyone tackle Denard Robinson this year? The Heisman hopeful will have another chance to rack up some serious numbers against an overmatched Falcons squad, albeit one that crushed Marshall as a home dog last week. This upset will be much harder to come by this week, although who would have thought UMass could take Big Blue to the wire at the Big House.
Prediction: Michigan 38 – Bowling Green 20 – Bet Now
Odds: Michigan: -25.5 – Bowling Green: +25.5 – Over/Under: 58

Ball State @ #18 Iowa – 12:00 PM ET
Iowa lost a tough game in the desert to Arizona but they get a nice layup game before conference hasn’t rubbed off too much on the Hawkeyes as they are still 28 point favourites at home. The Cardinals hung in there against Purdue last week. Iowa is infinitely better than the Boilermakers.
Prediction: Iowa 49 – Ball State 6 – Bet Now
Odds: Iowa: -28 – Ball State: +28 – Over/Under: 46.5

Austin Peay @ #11 Wisconsin – 12:00 PM ET
A complete mismatch here so there is not much to say other than that Wisconsin was thoroughly unimpressive in beating Arizona State on the weekend. They are supposed to be a sleeper but they just looked asleep. Iowa has a loss at the Badgers don’t look good. Maybe the league needs Michigan this year.
Prediction: Wisconsin 56 – Austin Peay 3 – Bet Now

Temple @ #23 Penn State – 3:30 PM ET
Historically this has been a serious mismatch…but the Owls are closing the gap. I don’t think they can upset PSU in Happy Valley but led by Bernard Pierce they shredded UConn last week and should continue to close the gap some more in this one. Freshman QB Robert Bolden already has 5 picks this year while Temple doesn’t beat themselves. The Owls sound like a good bet at +15.
Prediction: Penn State 35 – Temple 24 – Bet Now
Odds: Penn State: -15 – Temple: +15 – Over/Under: 43

Eastern Michigan @ #2 Ohio State – 3:30 PM ET on ABC
Not sure why they are punishing us by putting this one on TV. Ohio State has won and covered three straight weeks. Eastern Michigan has lost all three games including giving up 52 points to Central Michigan last week. It makes you wonder how many the Buckeyes can score…if they try. The spread is an amazing 42.5 points which is about as high you will see all season. Can EMU score a TD to make a backdoor cover? I am going to pass.
Prediction: Ohio State 56 – Eastern Michigan 6 – Bet Now
Odds: Ohio State: -42.5 – Eastern Michigan: +42.5 – Over/Under: 54.5

Akron @ Indiana – 7:00 PM ET
Indiana gets another tune up before Big Ten play starts. Last week against WKU they took their foot off the gas in the 4th quarter but still covered..But can you really back the Hoosiers at -22 against anybody? That’s a litte too rich for me.
Prediction: Indiana 35 – Akron 16 – Bet Now
Odds: Indiana: -22 – Akron: +22 – Over/Under: 56.5

Northern Illinios @ Minnesota – 8:30 PM
The Gophers kept it closer than expected against big bad USC. If they had not turned the ball over they might have even upset the Trojans. This week is a classic letdown game. They have Northwestern next week but shouldn’t take the Huskies too lightly. UNI almost upset Illinois last week, getting just pummeled on the ground in the process. They are used to BCS size and have an experienced team. Could be an upset here.
Prediction: Northern Illinois 28 – Minnesota 27 – Bet Now
Odds: Northern Illinois: +4.5- Minnesota: -4.5 – Over/Under: 49.5
