A great second week of games for the Big 12 – highlighted specifically by a pair of possible future Pac-16 matchups between Arizona and No. 9 Oklahoma State on ESPN and BYU versus No. 24 Texas on ESPN2. For football junkies, getting to see these teams square off will be a good template for what potential future super conferences could look like. Also of note is No. 21 Missouri at Arizona State on ESPN, with the Sun Devils trying to show they’re a Pac-12 contender, not pretender, while Missouri can show it has a legitimate shot at the Big 12 title with a tough road victory. Listed pointspreads are provided by BetOnline.com.

Arizona @ #9 Oklahoma State – 8:00 PM ET on ESPN
Boone Pickens Stadium in Stillwater is an unfriendly place to play for whatever team shows up, and Cowboy fans will be out for blood with Arizona coach Mike Stoops, brother to Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops, stalking the opposing sideline. The Wildcats have some nice players on offense in quarterback Nick Foles and NFL-ready wide receiver Juron Criner … but Oklahoma State has one of the top offenses in the country and is capable of putting up huge numbers.
Prediction: Oklahoma State 59, Arizona 24 – Bet Now
Odds: Oklahoma State: -13.5 – Arizona: +13.5 – Over/Under: 66

#21 Missouri at Arizona State – 10:30 PM ET on ESPN
Kind of surprising to see Arizona State as favorites, but the Sun Devils have started to get on radars as of late as a possible Pac-12 dark horse and barely missed making it into the top 25 after an opening rout of UC Davis. Here’s the thing: Missouri’s defense is incredible, and they get top defensive back Kip Edwards back for this game … but new quarterback James Franklin appears headed for a meltdown after a shaky debut against Miami (Ohio) last week.
Prediction: Arizona State 28, Missouri 17 – Bet Now
Odds: Arizona State: -7.5 – Missouri: +7.5 – Over/Under: 52.5

Iowa @ Iowa State – 12:00 PM
The Hawkeyes have absolutely dominated this series against their in-state rivals the last five seasons, but Iowa is down after losing a ton of starters to the NFL and the Cyclones get to play at home and have a much-improved squad. Go a little further back, and you can see that Iowa has proven vulnerable to playing Iowa State, especially when the games are in Ames.
Prediction: Iowa State 14, Iowa State 7 – Bet Now
Odds: Iowa State: +6.5 – Iowa State: -6.5 – Over/Under: 43

Northern Illinois @ Kansas – 7:00 PM ET
I firmly believe the Jayhawks picked up their only win of the season in last week’s opener against McNeese State. Combine that with the fact that Northern Illinois is one of the best teams in the MAC, and this game kicks off the start of an embarrassing season for coach Turner Gill in Lawrence … also, possibly his last season in Lawrence. Huskies’ quarterback Chandler Harnish has a really good running back behind him in Jasmin Hopkins and Northern Illinois is feeling pretty confident after slapping Army in its season opener.
Prediction: Northern Illinois 28, Kansas 6 – Bet Now
Odds: Northern Illinois: -6.5 – Kansas: +6.5 – Over/Under: 60.5

Brigham Young @ #24 Texas – 7:00 PM ET on ESPN2
What a great game. A lot of knocks on BYU after struggling to a 14-13 win over Mississippi in the opener, but Oxford is a tough place to play. Cougars’ quarterback Jake Heaps is a player every college football fan in the nation will know by the end of this season … if he can make it out Austin alive. On the opposite side of the field, Texas quarterback Garrett Gilbert is terrible and won the job by default, as Mack Brown apparently forgot to sign a top-tier quarterback in the last four years, apparently thinking Colt McCoy had up to a decade of eligibility. BYU’s offense is tough, and has 10 starters back. Their defense might be tougher. The Longhorns ranking is a complete mirage.
Prediction: BYU 28, Texas 7 – Bet Now
Odds: BYU: +7 – Texas: -7 – Over/Under: 48
