The San Diego State Aztecs will host the No.23 UNLV Runnin’ Rebels a Mountain West match up on Saturday at the Viejas Arena at Aztec Bowl, San Diego, California.

In the previous meeting this season, UNLV beat the Aztecs by a score of 76-66.
The Rebs are coming off a 76-66 loss to No. 15 New Mexico on Wednesday. Scoring leader Oscar Bellfield led his team with 15 points while Tre’Von Willis, the leading scorer in Mountain West Conference games, had 13 points and 10 assists, and Matt Shaw added 12 points in the loss that ended UNLVs five-game win streak. The Rebels have played a very consistent game on both sides of the ball and it can be attributed to Lon Kruger and his coaches.
Over in sunny San Diego the Aztecs have won five of their last season most recently pounding Wyoming 88-57 on Wednesday night in Mountain West Conference action. Freshman Kawhi Leonard made 10 of 14 shots from the field netting a career-high 26 points and eight rebounds in the win. Chase Tapley scored 14 points, and Tyrone Shelley and Kelvin Davis scored 12 points each for the Aztecs. San Diego shot 58.1 percent from the floor and forced 20 turnovers on the night, while also dominating the boards, 43-28. SDSU were already lacking depth with a team featuring zero senior starters, but has know been relegated to an eight man rotation after Tim Shelton was lost to season ending knee surgery.
The odds makers have the Aztecs as –4-poiny favorites in this one.
The Rebs will face an Aztecs team that is 11-1 at the Viejas Arena. UNLV is 4-1 in conference play on the road, and 8-1 overall away from the Mack. Both teams will be in the hunt for a won to pad their resumes for the NCAA Tournament Selection Committee.
This one should be intense. Look for a tough battle with the Rebels getting one on the road.
