The Longhorns looked amazingly sharp in their romp over Texas A&M earlier this week.  Now they have to travel to Kansas and face another highly ranked team in the undefeated Jayhawks.  It is always heated when these to teams meet on the hardwood where Kansas has the much better history.  It is hard not to like this Texas squad right now.  They are absolutely loaded in the backcourt and on the wings  and their inside presence is respectable with Tristan Thompson holding his own in the post with his athleticism.  In the past Kansas has had some hulks in the middle but not this year so the Longhorns are well equipped to challenge their perfection.  It won’t be easy given that Kansas has the longest home winning streak in the nation.  This one should be very entertaining.

Even though they are undefeated Kansas is still trying to figure things out a little bit.  This is mostly due to the fact that #1 recruit Josh Selby started the season on suspension and they are still trying to figure out how he fits in best.  He has shown great talent and scoring ability but the consistency hasn’t been there in the early going.  With the Jayhawks having great depth on the perimeter there has been no need to force things but as the competition gets better, like this weekend, they need Selby to be an elite player.  This Kansas squad is very good but doesn’t have the star power of some recent vintages.  Selby can be the difference in critical games like this one and it would be good to see him step up.

The current line on this one is the Kansas Jayhawks at -7.

Prediction: Texas is certainly good enough to beat the Jayhawks and end the streak but it doesn’t feel like that is going to happen.  It will be close.
