#1 Texas Longhorns (17-0) vs #12 Kansas State Wildcats (15-2)
Last meeting: Texas 61 K-State 58
Texas is coming off of their closest scare of the season, a 72-67 home victory against rival Texas A&M. The fact that they are undefeated to this point is no surprise, this is a complete team with balanced scoring, athleticism and a great commitment to defense. Currently they are second in the nation in scoring while also ranking 6th in the nation in FG% defense, a combination that says Final Four. if they are going to complete a perfect season it will not be easy, they will be challenged in the competitive Big 12 and up next is the better than expected Kansas State, who with all respect to Kansas, is the best team in the state right now.

It is a good year to be a Wildcat and Kansas State is riding that wave. I don’t think that anybody expected this to be a top 15 team but this season, as always, if you have a fantastic backcourt than anything is possible. Jacob Pullen and Denis Clemente have been tremendous averaging close to 35ppg and even though Frosh big Wally Judge has been a bit of a bust they are getting increased production from Curtis Kelly to keep things respectable inside. Man for man the longhorns definitely have more talent but the Wildcats have not lost at home all season and will try to catch Texas at a bit of an emotional low coming off the weekend’s big win.
The current line on this one is Texas -1.
Texas’ depth in the backcourt and on the wings will overwhelm the Wildcats. K-State is a very nice squad but they don’t have the depth or that singular great player to hand the Longhorns their first loss.
