There will be no rest for the road weary San Diego State Aztecs who dropped their first contest of the 2010-11 campaign to the Cougars of Brigham Young last week, as they now must face a resurging Colorado State Rams on Wednesday.
CSU is playing its best hoops in years and is just one win over a top 10 team away from punching their ticket to this year’s NCAA Tournament.

The Rams missed their first two chances to snag a big win, losing to No. 2 Kansas and then to conference rival BYU. Now CSU has three more tries to grab a top 10 win before the Mountain West Conference Tournament, but after Wednesday would have to try to add to an already impressive road record by winning at either BYU or their season finale at San Diego State.

The Aztecs will hope to get back on the rails after suffering their first loss 71-58 loss at BYU using the possibility of a win on Wednesday as a springboard back to the top of the conference standings with their second straight win.
After leading by one at the half, SDSU fell apart and were unable to hit their shoots, going 22-of-62 from the floor, 5-of-20 from beyond the arc, and 9-of-15 from the charity stripe. You can’t expect to win with those abysmal stats. Kawhi Leonard tried his best hitting on 8-of-20 shots for 22 points while adding a game-high 15 rebounds, but it was not enough.
One thing is for certain, the Aztecs will need more production from more than just Leonard if they want to defeat the Rams come Wednesday. CSU’s Andy Ogide and Travis Franklin will do their best to shut Leonard down forcing more of SDs players to get into the act.

CSU will be difficult to beat at home. In nine previous home games, they have have lost just twice and are desperately seeking the elusive win that would punctuate an already very good season. The Rams would like nothing more than to do that at home, but will have to do against one of the best defensive teams in the land, as SDSU allows just 59.3 points per game -12th-best in the nation.
The odds makers have the San Diego State Aztecs as a -5.5 point favorite with an over/under of 137.
