2010-2011 Samford Season Preview

The Bulldogs are 14-24 in their first two seasons of Southern Conference action, so coach Jimmy Tillette and his charges are eager for improvement to become an upper echelon team. One major problem is the lack of athleticism against squads such as Appalachian State, College of Charleston and Western Carolina. Samford runs the Princeton system and looks for the 3-pointer or the layup, but hasn’t been able to establish that attack consistently enough in its first two SoCon seasons. The Bulldogs return only one double-figure scorer in Josh Davis, who is basically only a 3-point shooter as around 70 percent of his made field goals came from behind the arc.
